The film is about the need for acceptance love and recognition as the father was a cycling racer and he expects his son to be the same and everything that happens is because of this weight of expectation to be recognized the training the corruption of Felix as he does everything he can to improve and win and gain approval.

It's at its most saddest where we see footage of a grown man ignoring his son as he tries to get his father's attention after a race.
