Now, Gibson has discussed joining the project and revealed several details regarding his character, the ruthless criminal kingpin, Cormac in an interview done ahead of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

“He's kind of like [Winston and Charon’s] mentor, or actually, mentor or tormentor, I'm not sure which. But he's rather a nefarious character who's like a father figure to them, and they perceive him that way when they're young, but as they grow and begin to analyse who he really is, they realise he's probably not the father figure he pretends to be. He's pretty selfish in his own motives, and has used them in an ill way, and I think they're burned by that and they want to get even. Rightly so.”

Former CBS Chairwoman Nina Tassler Leads Discussion On Latinx Industry Issues But Sidesteps Mention Of Les Moonves
Following Ronan Farrow’s New Yorker expose on Les Moonves that detailed the CBS Chairman and CEO’s alleged sexual misconduct over the years, a number of executives who’ve worked with him went on the record during the recent TCA tour to say myriad things from their inability to comment, to defending the CBS work climate to praising Moonves on his track record in television.

Tonight at the Television Academy Foundation and Netflix event, The Power of TV, former CBS Entertainment chairwoman Nina Tassler, who worked with Moonves for 18 years at the network, chose to stay completely mum about her former colleague.

Unlike the network executives who took the stage during TCA and promptly responded to the Moonves-cbs scandal in some form or fashion, Tassler didn’t mention anything about the network boss during the Latinx panel she was moderating. Following the session, Tassler was whisked out of the room by Academy ushers.

Mishel Prada (‘Vida’): Having entirely Latinx writers’ room ‘creates a beauty’ [Complete Interview Transcript]
Mishel Prada
Mishel Prada is one of the stars of the new Starz drama “Vida” in which she plays Emma, a Mexican-American woman who reunites with her distant sister Lyn (Melissa Barrera) after a family tragedy. This is Prada’s first leading role on a TV show, though she previously had a role in the Emmy-nominated short form series “Fear the Walking Dead: Passage.”

A few days before the “Vida” series premiere on Starz, Prada spoke with Gold Derby contributing editor Zach Laws about her reaction upon getting the part, how she related to Emma and how the series touches on timely themes about the Latinx experience. Watch our exclusive video interview with Prada and read the complete transcript below.

Short Form Content Isn’t Just Good for Execs, But Writers Too, as Emmy Voters Take Notice
As viewers continue to balance increasing television options on shrinking screens, the Emmys have begun to celebrate exemplary content tailor-made for rapid consumption with its short- form categories. Likewise, network executives behind this burgeoning digital content are recognizing the importance of talent, both on and off camera, who can successfully jump from one platform to another.

For AMC’s Lyle Underkoffler, senior VP of new digital business, the key to ensuring talent will resonate both on its long-form programming, like “Fear the Walking Dead,” and on its short-form content like the Emmy-nominated “Fear the Walking Dead: Passage,” is to keep enough of the talent in-house in order to maintain a through-line for its shorter spinoffs and their parent series.

“What we allowed [with “Passage”] is folks on the show to expand their creative capacities to a different location and a different setting that wouldn’t work in the show itself,” Underkoffler says.

Louis van Amstel in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
Emmys 2017 Trivia: Julia Louis-Dreyfus Moves One Step Closer to History & 18 More Wild Things About This Year’s Noms
Louis van Amstel in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
This could be the year that Julia Louis-Dreyfus makes Emmy history.

Nominated once again for playing Selina Meyer on HBO’s “Veep,” Louis-Dreyfus is the favorite to win her sixth consecutive Emmy as outstanding comedy actress. In doing so, she would beat the record for most Emmys won by a performer in the same role for the same series.

Right now, Louis-Dreyfus is in a three-way tie with Candice Bergen (“Murphy Brown”) and Don Knotts (“Andy Griffith Show”). All three thesps won five Emmys for their roles on those shows. Now, Louis-Dreyfus is poised to leap ahead.

What’s more, she’s also in line this year to tie Cloris Leachman for the most Emmys ever won by a female performer. Leachman has eight; Louis-Dreyfus has seven – tied with Mary Tyler Moore and Allison Janney. (Janney, of course, is competing with Louis-Dreyfus in the comedy...

Writers Guild Award Analysis: It’s Still ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Manchester’ At the Oscars
Trevante Rhodes, Ashton Sanders, and Alex R. Hibbert in Moonlight (2016)
The Writers Guild Awards and the Academy writing nominees always don’t line up; many films are ineligible. This year, those included Oscar-writing nominees “Lion” and “The Lobster.”

This year, the WGA and the Academy differed dramatically. While the WGA deemed “Moonlight” and “Loving” as Original Screenplays, the Academy considered both as Adapted; only “Moonlight” landed a nomination.

At the WGA, as at the BAFTAs, Barry Jenkins’ script for “Moonlight” competed for the Original Screenplay Award against both Kenneth Lonergan’s “Manchester by the Sea” and Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land.” Unlike the BAFTAs, Jenkins emerged the winner over Lonergan, a sign of strength for “Moonlight,” which is nominated for eight Oscars.
