Virgindade

This was an original way of telling a story about growing up. The narrator tells of his sexuality as a first-person voiceover during scenes filmed from one side of various roads to the other, showing ordinary people going about their daily business in what appear to be working-class areas. They appear not to know they are being filmed. Indeed, they are nothing to do with the subject matter of the film at all.

There is an interlude showing various undressed men with the camera lingering on different aspects of their bodies and then the narration picks up again but recounting experiences nearer to adolescence.

The conclusion? The narrator has learnt not to miss a trick and to teach himself to cruise.

This was worth a few minutes out of anyone's afternoon.

... or only a confession who defining him. A voice. City images. Old memories about exploration of sexuality. And the feeling of well known. A story about early years and meetings and secrets and occasions and desire. Or only a good experimental film, with a very precise target. Maybe, useful. In obvious manner, inspired portrait of a long way.
