I don't understand the bad reviews

This show is entertaining and funny. It's a comedy (british humor for sure). And it's better than most of the sad excuse for comedies that have been coming out in the movie theatres these days. For the people who are saying it's unrealistic.. well duh. Comedies usually have some ridiculous storyline lol. Don't listen to reviews and watch for yourself! I myself enjoyed it. I also love how they subtly snuck in a nod to GOT's arya..

Solid and funny

I'm surprised at some of the low ratings and reviews - I can only think that they are from people that don't get British humour - you don't have to have canned laughter on a show to know when to laugh (or maybe some people do)

The acting is good, the wit is quick and dry and it's just thoroughly entertaining.

Entertaining and fun

3.5 out of 5 stars.

Pretty fair series. The plot is nothing special. With a few twists. But fun characters played by Maisie Williams. And the other two characters that tag along with her. Fun and stupid humor. Entertaining action.

Williams is definitely the standout

Enjoyed this.

'Two Weeks to Live' is a nicely paced six episode series, with Maisie Williams in the starring role. Williams is definitely the standout performer, those around her are neither good or bad; serviceable. The show attempts to mix humour and seriousness, not very well if I'm honest. The comedy is fairly strong, Williams has good delivery, but the more sincere stuff doesn't quite land - it made me a cringe a little bit in some moments.

All in all though, I would recommend this. I would watch a second season.

If you don't "get" dark British humor..........

......this is NOT the show for you.

The many reviews giving the show 1 to 3, are obviously from people in that category.

If you do enjoy that sort of thing, this is a fun and gory dark comedy, which is hopefully extended for another season.

I highly recommend it for Anglophiles :)

Enjoyable

Enjoyable, well cast black comedy. Did sag a little in the middle, maybe would have been better as a movie.

Just what I needed

Look, it won't win any awards and the script is a tiny bit smug, but I adored this. There is real pathos between the self-aware gags - the 'close your eyes' scene hit me right in the gut. Maisie Williams carries the whole thing, and Taheen Modak's evolution as Jay is skewiff and charming. Bring on series 2.

Frankenstein's monster of a show

Basically Killing Eve meets Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt with a bit of Fleabag energy thrown in.

Got some laughs in it and it's well acted but suffers under the weight of its (very obvious) influences.

It's definitely not a 1 but it's also not a 10

It's a fun series and doesn't need to be more than that, I didn't expect this to win any awards but I expected to have a good time and I have, Maisie williams is always a pleasure to watch, and I also enjoyed the mum in the series a lot, the brothers are where I find the major faults as others have stated, I don't think the acting is awful but I also don't think it's amazing on their behalf. The police are fine, pretty stereotypical. There are a few moments that had me laugh out loud and I don't often laugh out loud (whenever the man in the diner makes an appearance) and I liked the premise of the prank of two weeks to live however I can see a plot hole or two in the raising of Maisie's character but overall good fun, go in with an open mind.

Very entertaining

So... this is good. Highly original and made with dedication. If you liked Good Omens for example, you will love this too. It;s really not the same but the humour is on the same level. Enjoy!

Repost now a second season seems unlikely.

I originally posted this review against the final episode, when it felt like this might be an ongoing show. Now that seems unlikely, I thought I'd repost the review here.

Kim Noakes (Maisie Williams) has grown up in a remote hidden farmhouse with her mother. She sneaks away from the house with a plan, she'll experience the real world for two weeks, culminating in assassinating the man who killed her father years previously, then head back. On her first night she runs into brothers Nicky (Mawaan Rizwan) and Jay (Taheen Modak) who inadvertently convince her the world is in such a state that she'll need to expedite her plan.

I feel like "Two Weeks to Live" was a perfectly fine diversion for a couple of hours - but wasn't ever really funny, or dramatic, or surprising, or clever enough that I'd recommend actively hunting it down. Maisie Williams is alright as the lead, but her character, the wideeyed innocent, who can beat up anyone who crosses her - does feel like I've seen it before. Nicky and Jay too are OK, there's some humorous moments between them - but ultimately the smart nerd / dumb jock roles they play are a little clichéd too. Same with Sean Pertwee's mob boss, Jason Flemings corrupt cop and Sian Clifford as Kim's mother - again, nobody is bad it's just their characters aren't very original.

And that really is the whole show for me, it's not great - but it's not terrible either and at just six twenty five minute episodes it never outstays its welcome or lets you sit with its limitations.

Average

I can't understand why some viewers have given this average outing such a high score? Maybe it's personal taste, or cabin fever, but this mildly amusing drama with an unbelievable story line is hardly worth watching .

Good story

Good story, action/shooting scenes need work. If there is a next season, which they set it up to be, shooting scenes need to be better.

Don't expect anything from this serie

Nothing new on the horizon. The writing is particulary awful, feels like a 12 yo teenager wrote this. The filming is very conventional and doesn't support the story and the vibe. Still watchable but there's better series around.

if i had known it was this good, I'd have watched it sooner

This is definitely a show for those with the British sense of humour. If that's not you then this might not be the show for you...it probabaly explains some of the lower ratings.

Think of a 4th installment of The Cornetto Trilogy and you won't go far wrong...Sharon of the Survivalists if you will.

Maisie Williams is excellent and Mawaan Rizwan plays it great as her love interest/comedy foil.

However, for me it is Sean Pertwees brief but unforgettable appearance that steals the show.

I'd definitely look forward to another season.

Short show but entertaining.

Two Weeks To Live is only six short episodes long so you could easily binge watch the entire show in one go. I did it in two days as it was entertaining enough to keep me interested. Maisie Williams plays the main character, an overprotected world shy girl that is on a mission to check off her to do list before it's too late, what results in some funny and brutal scenes. A simple but entertaining story, good convincing actors and well shot scenes. They could have dragged it out a bit in my opinion, maybe another season, but it had a clear ending so I guess that was it. At least they wrote a good ending.

Greatly anticipated. It didn't disappoint.

Having watched the trailer shortly after lockdown in the U.K. I was delighted to find the whole series ready to view today. We binged the lot in one sitting. Funny (a brilliant nod to GoT In episode 2), an easy watch and fantastically entertaining. A bit obvious throughout but non the worse for this. It has a bit of a 'Wrong Mans' vibe to it. Roll on series 2.

Frustratingly inept direction and writing

From the first episode, you can see problems with this series. It's a collection of unrequited everything - so frustratingly British - until you the viewer becomes frustrated. Not so much the stilted, witless dialog but the lack of charm from the main characters fail to involve anyone - that is, anyone over the age of 12. This is really aimed at lower intelligence and lesser experience of the viewer. It's really for pre-teens. Which is fine but the script condescends to that age group, with little respect for its audience. The cast is competent and sometimes extraordinary (Pooky Quesnel is as usual brilliant and stands far above those around her when it comes to talent.)

What do we say to the god of Woke ? Not today.

Masie is very likeable and she and her mum are decent actors, the sound track and production are good but this has to fight a suspect script just drowning in wokeness, some of the dialogue between Masie and her Mum is cringeworthy. Nicky and his brother are not very good actors and it shows, there characters are poorly written and suffer in the tide of woke in the story line, just as above has you cringing.

Don't think twice, it's alright

This is a sweet, dark comedy that is easy to watch and easy to like. The script delivers and doesn't try too hard but manages to get just enough laughs, with both wit and goofy stunts.

The real star among a very competent cast is Sian Clifford, who played Claire in Fleabag. She never breaks from her character as the hard-ass mother who channels her inner (female) Bruce Willis

Six short episodes that make for a fun diversion without insulting the audience.

At the end you'll think it was worth 2.5 hours of your time.

Quirky and very British sense of humour

If you don't like our dark sense of humour then I wouldn't recommend watching this series. I literally laughed out loud many times, I loved all the characters even though a few were pretty cliche, but I think that was part of the charm. Can't wait for the next season! Fun and exciting little series.
