The episodes up to Episode 9 were perfection. Not sure what happened after that but it's like the joyful soul of the show was snatched away. After Episode 9, I'm not sad that this show was cancelled. If the events had gone differently, I would've been down for the ride. It's like they hired the writers of "Hello, Ladies" after Episode 9 or something.
Initially, the series began with an interesting storyline, funny, relatable characters and decent enough cinematography. The, June arrived with the second half of the season. It's format, along with the storyline came to a complete stand still and major change! It was like it became a different show! It went from something like a funny X-files spoof, a little MIB humor, and changed to a dark, dreary wannabe "The Office" type of show and the quality is the same! Yes, it worked for the office, not for this show at all! So far, the last three episodes half been filmed almost entirely within the office!!! I haven't researched whether or not there have been some changes in production, writing or directing, but SOMETHING MAJOR happened! Whatever it was doomed a show that honestly had potential!
The way this show was handled is an enigma. It started as a funny spoof of sci-fi series with inventive and funny scenarios. Then, after episode 9, out of the blue, the show became mediocre. It started following a complicated uninteresting plot, the jokes disappeared and the authors also killed the vibe between the main characters.
Adam Scott and Craig Robinson are very capable actors, brilliant comedians, their chemistry was promising but it all disappeared. I don't know if the total change of orientation of the show is due to the brilliant mind of a marketing genius, or any other studio executives, or if for an unknown reason the writers resigned, but this move killed a perfectly viable show. I don't remember seeing anything like that before: a show going from very good to totally rotten in a snap. I'd be curious to know what happened. Anyway this is too bad.
You know i actually thought this show had potential. The first nine episodes are actually entertaining, being the "sam" episode the best of the bunch. Nothing really out of the box, but i did had fun while watching it. I think they were onto something, also because i did enjoy the major plotlines they were building.
Then they changed screenwriter, the show stopped for some months...and when it came back it was just awful. They put new characters that were unfunny and boring, they decided to change totally the plotline and to forget all the past archs...."the wire" episode is still ok, the other are just almost unwatchable. Its just..why?
At the last episode they realized they did a big mistake, so they put everything back in. So episode 16 follows again the stories the show abandoned and lets go of those boring secundary characters. Unfortunately it was too late.
Too bad, this could have been a cool tv show if they gave time for the plot and the characters to develop. When they decided to give it to a new screenwriter it was when the show ended. Still the first 10 episodes are fine, then skip the show until episode 16.

It seems like the show was originally 10 episodes, but for some reason they decided to force 6 really bad wannabe The Office episodes in before the finale.
Episode 16 appears to pick up where episode 9 ended, with none of the previous 6 episodes seemingly having affected the storyline whatsoever.
Episodes 10-15 also introduced a bunch of characters that are gone again in the finale.
