CBS's new comedy Dmv will poke fun at the dreaded Department of Motor Vehicles. Set in one of Hollywood's most mundane office environments, the TV show will depict the daily struggles of the people working the desks.

Showrunners Dana Klein and Matt Kuhn's new sitcom has the most unremarkable setting, a nondescript Department of Motor Vehicles office. "I loved the idea of setting a show in the most mundane, unextraordinary place, and arguably the Dmv is one of the most dreaded places people have to go," Klein told TV Insider. Dmv's trailer already teased hilarious hijinks, and Klein promises to expand on that premise.

Janicza Bravo and Lena Dunham first met while making Camping — Dunham was the creator of the short-lived HBO series, while Bravo was part of the ensemble cast — but it wasn’t until the pandemic hit two years after its cancellation that their friendship took off. “We had the same outlook,” Bravo says with a laugh. “I’m already a little antisocial, so it only encouraged me to be even more afraid of being around people. Music Awards Japan 2025 , one of the largest international music awards in Japan, announced the best works and artists in all 62 categories at the Premiere Ceremony held on May 21 and the Grand Ceremony on May 22. The award was established this year by five major Japanese music industry organizations to promote Japanese and other Asian music to the world, to make Japanese music a culture to be proud of globally, and to encourage overseas artists to enter the Japanese market. Yoasobi’s “Idol” and Creepy Nuts’ “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” were among the top winners at the Premiere Ceremony of the inaugural Music Awards Japan, held on May 21, 2025, by the Japan Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (Ceipa).

The Music Awards Japan was launched by Ceipa to recognize excellence in Japanese and pan-Asian music. The awards cover over 60 categories, including anime, idol culture, Vocaloid, and more.

Yoasobi’s “Idol,” the opening theme for the anime Oshi No Ko, won Best Anime Song and Best Music Video.

Creepy Nuts’ “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born,” the second-season opening theme for Mashle: Magic And Muscles, earned a total of seven awards.

These include Best Japanese Song, Best Viral Song, Best Japanese Hip-Hop/Rap Song, Best Japanese Dance Pop Song, and regional titles for Top Japanese Song in Europe, North America, and Latin America.

It was also nominated for Best Anime Song alongside 10-feet’s “Dai Zero Kan” from The First Slam Dunk and Mrs.

The official website and Twitter for Mayu Murata’s Honey Lemon Soda launched today, confirming the series will receive an anime adaptation. No release date for the anime was announced at the time of reporting. Teaser visual "Wha, Wha, What!" the manga author Murata commented on her surprise. " Honey Lemon will be adapted into anime! It’s an interesting month ahead on Hulu, as the streamer rolls out some of the series it’s been keeping in its back pocket for the holiday season.

On December 15, the first season of Such Brave Girls will arrive. The sitcom follows a dysfunctional family – and we mean dysfunctional! – that includes real-life sisters Kat Sadler and Lizzie Davidson. British comedian Sadler has previously written for The News Quiz, Hypothetical, and Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable, but this is her first big TV project. “Everything we joke about in the show is from a place of lived experience,” she told Funny Women. “I wish I could say this is a heart-warming show about overcoming trauma, but that would be a lie. It’s about three toxic, damaged egomaniacs manipulating the world and each other for their own personal gain, vengeance and glory…just like in Little Women.” Sounds good!

In a development that may not be all that surprising, Don Lemon doesn’t seem to have many fans over at Fox News.

On Monday morning’s installment of “Fox & Friends First,” cohost Carley Shimkus and guest Beverly Hallberg broke down the former “CNN This Morning” anchor’s first interview since his firing, slamming the journalist for positioning himself as what Hallberg deemed “the arbiter of the truth.”

“I think it’s pretty laughable to most people,” she said.

The “Fox & Friends First” discussion kicked off Monday with Shimkus introducing the fact that in his first interview since being fired from CNN in April, Lemon maintained that he has and will continue to always “tell the truth” and “abide by the promises of the Constitution.”

The MTV series Teen Wolf – which was loosely inspired by the 1985 comedy film Teen Wolf (watch our Awfully Good video on that movie Here) – wrapped up its six season run back in 2017, and back in January it got a feature film follow-up on the Paramount+ streaming service. (Read our review of Teen Wolf: The Movie at This Link.) Now Paramount+ is hoping that movie is going to rack up multiple Primetime Emmy Awards nominations.

Variety reports that the streaming service has submitted Teen Wolf: The Movie for Emmys consideration in the following categories: Outstanding Television Movie, Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie (Tyler Posey), Directing (Russell Mulcahy), Writing, Prosthetic Makeup and Original Music and Lyrics (“Lemon” by Tyler Posey).

Since Posey was also a producer on the film, Variety notes that these submissions give him three chances to earn an Emmy nod.

“Teen Wolf: The Movie,” Paramount+’s adaptation of the MTV supernatural-thriller series, has been submitted for the Primetime Emmy Awards for outstanding television movie, Variety has learned exclusively.

Moreover, the streamer also submitted the film in five other categories: lead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie (Tyler Posey), directing (Russell Mulcahy), writing, prosthetic makeup and original music and lyrics (“Lemon” by Tyler Posey). We’re fast approaching the end of the Emmy eligibility window, which means there are few new shows of note and many ongoing series angling for our attention as they make their final turns and head down the homestretch.

Sunday marks the penultimate episode of HBO’s “Succession,” and while it’s hard to believe the two-time Emmy winner for Best Drama Series could manage to top itself after already delivering Logan’s (Brian Cox) death, Roman’s (Kieran Culkin) dramatic mountaintop confrontation, Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) and Shiv’s (Sarah Snook) balcony blowout and the Great Wasabi and Lemon Lacroix Incident of 2023, “Church and State” (airing at 9/8c on HBO and HBO Max) just might do it.

On the drama side, the limited series “Love and Death” premieres on April 27. It’s based on the true story of Candy (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pat Montgomery (Patrick Fugit) and Betty (Lily Rabe) and Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons) – two churchgoing couples enjoying their small-town Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.

With its list of new releases for April 2023, HBO Max is premiering the final episodes of two major shows.

First up is the continuation of Titans season 4 on April 13. Returning after a four month hiatus, these next six episodes will be the last go around for HBO Max’s gritty live-action DC series. Arriving three days later on HBO proper is the fourth and final season of Barry. Bill Hader and the rest of the Barry team wrote themselves into a fascinating corner with the conclusion of season 3. And judging by the first teasers for season 4, this final batch of episodes will indeed catch up with our favorite actor/hitman in prison.

Other TV shows of note this month include the Pete Davidson-starring animated series Fired on Mars on April 20 (light ’em up) the the Elizabeth Olsen-starring true crime story Love & Death on April 27.

Bill Hader returns for one final season of Barry and the popular sketch comedy A Black Lady Sketch Show kicks off its fourth season on HBO Max in April 2023. Additional highlights of the streaming service’s April lineup include the debut of Love & Death, a limited series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Patrick Fugit; season two of Somebody Somewhere with Bridget Everett; and the return of 100 Foot Wave for a second season.

In addition, the Titans mid-season premiere arrives on April 13. HBO Max offers this description of the fourth and final season’s remaining episodes: “The Titans – with the exception of Gar – are returned to the Temple of Trigon and rush to find Sebastian and Mother Mayhem before Sebastian summons Trigon. In the final season of HBO Max’s “Barry,” premiering on April 16, Barry’s arrest for the murder of Cousineau’s girlfriend leads to a shocking conclusion. Fan-favorite TV series and a host of exciting films arrive on HBO and HBO Max this month. The fourth and final season of Emmy-winning drama “Succession” kicks off on March 26, so mark your calendars. Meanwhile, the long-awaited second season of “Perry Mason” is upon us with a debut on March 6, while “The Last of Us” wraps up its acclaimed first season on March 12. And the Oscar-nominated documentary “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed” makes its streaming debut on March 19.

There’s nothing quite like when HBO is airing one of its trademark watercooler-worthy dramas weekly. Thankfully, we’ll get to it experience exactly that and more on HBO Max in March 2023.

The big ticket item on HBO Max this March is undoubtedly Succession Season 4 on March 26. Part prestige drama and part screwball comedy, Succession is about as fun a watch as they come. Season 4 of the series about egregious wealth will find the Roy siblings reeling after trying and failing to take down their father, Logan (Brian Cox).

HBO Max’s other major TV option this month is another weekly release from HBO. Matthew Rhys returns as the titular lawyer in Perry Mason Season 2 on March 6. Season 1 of this period piece reboot flexed the classic TV character’s detective skills. From the look of the trailer, it seems as though this is the year Perry makes his name in the court room.

HBO Max’s new additions in March 2023 will feature the season finale of a hit series, the return of another award-winning show, and plenty of classic movies for the streamer’s library. February 2023 saw the streaming premieres of Oscar nominees Empire of Light and HBO documentary All That Breathes. The month also brought the releases of the holiday special Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver season 10. Additionally, HBO Max’s February and March streaming titles include two 2023 Best Picture nominees: Elvis and The Banshees of Inisherin.

There’s a scene in Bullet Train that perfectly illustrates what a misfire this supposed action comedy is. A bunch of rival assassins with overlapping and clashing objectives are all on the same overnight high-speed train from Tokyo to Kyoto. Two of them — Brad Pitt’s “Ladybug” and Brian Tyree Henry’s “Lemon” — find themselves in a face-to-face encounter in the quiet car. Naturally, the confrontation turns violent. In a movie that actual took action comedy seriously, this might have been hilarious: How do you beat someone up, maybe even kill them, without making any noise? But here, after the barest nod to the need for silence, rowdy fisticuffs commence, and the only concession to comedy — allegedly — is Pitt snapping at the civilian who shushes them to “eat a bag of dicks”… and then apologizing, because, you see, he’s on a journey to be a better person.

Hulu is bringing two major TV titles to its stream this month. The first is The Orville: New Horizons on June 2. Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi/comedy started as a simple Star Trek parody on Fox before blossoming into its own entirely sincere space adventuring beast. Now “New Horizons” promises to be a fresh start for the series on Hulu. Next up is Only Murders in the Building season 2 on June 28. Season 1 of this Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez-starring series was a big hit. Let’s see if our favorite podcasters can pull it off once again.

“Stranger Things” actor Brett Gelman is set to star in “Entitled,” a half-hour comedy series ordered at Showtime in the U.S. and Channel 4 in the U.K.

Created by Matt Morgan, the show follows Gabe (Gelman), an American widower who must get to know his British wife’s estranged family. In their crumbling gothic mansion in the English countryside, they compete for his affections — and his newly inherited fortune.

A co-production between Showtime and Channel 4 in association with All3Media International, “Entitled” is executive produced by Morgan and Gelman, along with Harry Williams, Jack Williams and Sarah Hammond of Two Brothers Pictures, the producers behind “Fleabag,” which Gelman was featured on alongside creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Tim Kirby is directing the eight-episode first season of the show and also executive producing.

Production on “Entitled” is set to begin in Manchester, England, in August. Showtime and Channel 4 are targeting a 2023 premiere for the series.

Sundance Institute and Picturehouse have announced additions to the 2022 Sundance Film Festival: London programme today.

Alongside the twelve feature films, two short film strands and industry events previously announced, the festival will also present a new podcast strand with live audiences, including Girls on Film and Evolution of Horror; a 25th-anniversary screening of Love Jones, a special screening of Danny Boyle’s Shallow Grave; and a screening of Janicza Bravo’s Lemon chosen by keynote speaker, producer Christine Vachon.

The Festival will open up the spirit of Sundance Film Festival to UK audiences by screening three films at upwards of 25 cinemas across the country. A Love Song, Free Chol Soo Lee and Good Luck To You, Leo Grande will screen alongside recorded Filmmaker Q&As during the festival dates of 9 to 12 June 2022.

For the first time ever, the festival will include an exciting programme of live podcast recordings within the line-up.

Local Natives have released a new cover EP after making a guest appearance on Apple TV Plus’ “The Shrink Next Door.”

The LA-based indie rock band appeared on the show, which stars Paul Rudd as Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf, a psychiatrist with a sinister past. The series is inspired by real-life events.

In the episode, Will Ferrell’s Marty meets Hannah (Christina Vidal Mitchell) at a local frame store and is smitten. He invites her as his date to the “Pen Gala.” But Hannah is quick to notice Ike’s not the character he seems and is taking advantage of Marty. It’s during the gala Local Natives make their mark.

The band appears as themselves, performing covers of soft-rock songs by Roxy Music, Gerry Rafferty, Michael McDonald, and 10cc.

“Music From The Pen Gala 1983” was recorded for the eight-part series and released after the episode aired.

Augustine Frizzell’s film of Jojo Moyes’ book The Last Letter From Your Lover leads the new titles in UK-Ireland cinemas this weekend, looking to work towards the result of previous Moyes’ adaptation Me Before You.

Released by Studiocanal in 550 locations, The Last Letter From Your Lover follows an ambitious journalist who attempts to solve the mystery of a forbidden affair at the centre of a series of secret love letters from 1964. A co-production between the UK’s Blueprint Pictures and Canada’s The Film Farm, it is being released by Netflix in the US.

There’s no date set for when “Canada’s Drag Race” Season 2 will premiere, but last month fans got more news about the judges’ panel shakeup that’s been in flux since March. Two judges are out and three new ones have been named.

Season 1 saw “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 11 runner-up Brooke Lynn Hytes, actor Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and model Stacey McKenzie judging the 12 competing queens.
