Paddington has to visit his aunt Lucy at the senior bears retirement home in Peru while his family is going through a transition phase. Mary feels that taking this family trip to Peru would give them a chance to re-bond. As the reach Peru, they get the shocking news about aunt Lucy missing and thus, begins the journey to search for her at Rumi rock, with the help of Hunter Cabot. The only glitch is that Hunter Cabot has his own agenda and wants to use Paddington to find El Dorado. Will the family come together to get out of this crisis and find aunt Lucy? Will Paddington be able to find El Dorado, forms rest of the story.
The third entry to this franchise, touches upon Paddington's origin story a bit too, though it largely focuses on his bond with Aunt Lucy. Despite the change in the director, the template is easy to catch on and the humor is in pretty much in sync with the previous films. The convenient screenplay however did get to me this time and what worked against this is also the factor that I immensely liked the second film which raised the bar for this one. The screenplay felt half baked as the resolution happens quickly with each character getting their happy ending. I did wish for the Brown family dynamics to have been explored more along with Paddington's own back story which did not happen. I am still going with a lenient rating because the film still is an easy watch and delivers harmless entertainment without feeling dragged.
