Avis à la une
Mark Millar originally wanted this to be a movie, but was advised by James Gunn to turn it into a 40 hour series, because of the extensive backstory and set up that would need to go into it. If we were to get this as a movie we'd have a Watchmen situation on our hands where everything about the characters is set up in the three minutes we had before the opening credits. I would urge people to give it a chance and to wait and see what happens. Yes, this season is setting things up, but considering the alternative I'd rather get it this way. In a market that is completely saturated by superhero stories, it's refreshing to see something with a little more depth and world building than others we've seen. Give it a chance and disregard the 10 star and 1 star reviews. It's not that black and white folks.
The overall aesthetic is a bit baffling, both high budget but with Battelstar, it still looks low budget sometimes? It's very weird. And then the entire arc of the season is overwritten at parts.
What I found compelling was the contrast and disillusionment between modern day and market crash 20s of America. Paired with the generational gap between supers parents and children, it actually is pretty interesting when it focuses on that stuff.
The problem for me is that as soon as it sets the themes up, it then plateaus for a while, going into a backstory that again, feels overwritten. It begins as interesting and then after a while you want things to clip along and they really don't. Pacing annunciates plot beat problems.
Overall, I find it more interesting than The Boys, as far as alternate supers stories go. Not as good as Watchmen. But not bad either. 7 feels pretty right for it. Seems like they haven't got that good a grasp on it but it's compelling when things go right. Whether they stumbled on the 'right', I guess we'll see - if there's another season.

Come on Netflix, this is recurring trend...please stop cancelling after 1 season!! This was a good show and there is plenty of crap you can cancel and nobody would care.
Yes, Jupiter's legacy is not perfect, it has a few flaws, but overall is a pretty decent series and really entertaining, the narrative with flashbacks was really well done, it keeps you interested in knowing "what happened?" between the past and the current time.
It has it flaws, of course, a little too much exposition sometimes, and of course as any superhero movie/series it makes no sense at times, but I really enjoyed it and I see crappy superhero projects getting a lot of seasons while this one didn't.
I don't know what happened, but I want my season 2.

I like the whole idea behind this story and, although it wasn't perfect and needed some explanations, it was a pretty good show. It sucks that we get left with an ending like that because it felt like we were finally gonna get somewhere, almost all the cards were on the table. I hope it gets shopped to another network or something but I doubt it. This could've been such a great series had it not been cancelled.
