K: Secret Eye

I have been following the director's work since I saw Zombiesthaan at an almost empty theater. I was shocked at the fact that a path breaking film like that had not made enough buzz. K, his earlier film, is an even more ambitious project and makes a strong statement about the current socio-political environment. It is really amazing that these kinds of films are being attempted in Bengal.

superb movie. Got to see something new in Bengali films. Full of suspense. Acting was superb. It was very real and a movie which was worth watching. I think Bengali film industry should make more films like this. This movie had suspense and funny moments at the same time which was amazing. The cast was good as well. All the actors were very natural and no one over did anything. The ending was also very good. keep the good work on.

I watched Rahasya Romancha Series on Hoichoi and loved it. Hence started to look for other works of the director, Abhirup Ghosh. Was surprised to find this hidden gem as I had never heard of it. It's a really innovative thriller. Very unlike the usual murder mysteries that Bengali films churn out regularly. Do give this a shot.

I recently stumbled upon this film on MX player. Had no idea this even existed. Boy, am I glad I watched this ! Sci fi is a genre that is extremely rare in Indian cinema, leave apart Bengali cinema. K is a fast paced, edgy sci fi film with a really strong statement, and a shocking last minute twist. I honestly did not see the twist coming. Yes, the film is rough in the edges. Its apparently a low budget indie. However, the storytelling and the unique plot more than make up for the flaws. It's a pity that films like these do not make any impact in theaters. A must watch.
