For two seasons we have gotten the chance to follow these characters and family, they are interesting and realistic written. They don't feel like they are from a comic book (which isn't a bad thing) instead they're more real and it's thanks to the writers but especially Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman. This is my second time watching Fear TWD, I appreciated it a lot more and enjoyed the pacing and its second season much more because I could watch multiple episodes per day. The season 2 finale ended with Nick and Luciana at the border, Ofelia captured and Madison and company getting to know where Nick is. It was a great episode, and so is this one. Both the finale and this premiere is directed by the talented Andrew Bernstein.
The third season is moving away from Mexico and back into America, at the border. There are a bunch of interesting characters that gets introduced in this season premiere, and it's the Otto family, Dayton Callie who plays the patriarch of the family made a guest appearance in episode 2.14. The other two in the Otto family is Troy and Jeremiah "Jake", completely different in personalities but both are interesting and well cast.
The first time I saw this episode was when it aired and I found it incredible, character driven but also moving the story along nicely. Now I see how good a storyteller Dave Erickson is and his 3-season plan is great, the characters is superb and so is the actors who portray them... The character arcs continues in this episode with a lot of character development, great development. For me this episode is an incredible season premiere and also one of the best episodes of Fear, it's also slow paced filled with memorable character interactions but also some action packed moments that is beautifully shot. The cinematography is insane, I personally liked a lot of things of this episode.
Having seen this season once before I know how the events will unfold so I won't spoil anything but it's the definition of Fear, this season has everything that a The Walking Dead show need to have and they did a spectacular job.

Contrary to what they say there, the series did not fail to be realistic for Madison not tee died ... Troy's brother even said: "We did not hurt women here" ... The episode was dynamic, full of action and good stories , The show is booming and I loved this premiere! I hope it stays that way for the rest of the season!
Travis, Madison and Alicia make it to the U. S./Mexico border where they are captured by an armed group. Travis is separated from the girls and is taken to a room where Nick, an injured Luciana and other captives. They shoot captives, who are deemed illegal immigrants, to see how long they turn into Walkers. The trio form an escape plan with other inmate but the person is killed and Travis is recaptured and made to fight the dead in a pit.
Madison and Alicia are taken to an office where they meet the man in charge, Troy, where he interrogates them and how they know Travis. Madison forms her own plan and holds Troy hostage and demand her family go free. They find Travis who has just brutally killed all the pit Walkers and Nick is reunited with his family. However, the compound is overrun and everyone evacuates to Troy's home base. Travis, Luciana and Alicia escape aboard a helicopter while Madison and Nick leave in a truck with Troy.
"Fear the Walking Dead" returns for its third season with the episode "Eye of the Beholder," which delves deep into the moral complexity and desperation of the zombie apocalypse. The episode begins with Nick Clark being taken to a community controlled by the military, where he witnesses the dark side of the supposed refuge. The tension is palpable, especially as Nick finds himself in the middle of a conflict between the community residents and their oppressors.
One of the most striking scenes occurs when Nick is forced to participate in a macabre operation carried out by the military, which involves removing the eyes of the dead to prevent them from becoming zombies. This scene is distressing and highlights the dehumanization that occurs in a world where survival is the only priority.
The episode also addresses themes such as the loss of innocence and the struggle for survival in a world where society's rules have been completely undone. The militarized community represents people's desperate attempt to cling to normalcy, even if it means sacrificing their humanity.
"Eye of the Beholder" ends with Nick making a brave decision to escape from the community, marking the beginning of an exciting and dangerous journey. This episode sets the dark and relentless tone of the third season, promising an intense narrative full of twists and turns.

An action packed ensemble-led episode gives this episode the title of best premiere in Fear history.
It's crazy how much this show changed since Season 1 to now, and then in the future to the terrible Andrew & Ian era.
10/10.

How many times can these people get separated back to back. It's just crazy how the writers seem to not be able to insert any drama except that of a separated family trying to get back to each other. It's utterly ridiculous. The episode as a whole with the Madison spoon incident was amusing so at least that was entertaining. Pretty good laugh from that. But honestly I loved TWD and decided to watch this thinking the writing might be alright. Can't even describe how disappointing this is. SO many things they could do with the beginning of the apocalypse and they're just wasting it. It's a real shame.

- Anecdotes200 rats were sent crawling over Noel Fisher in the scene where he opens up a wall that's making weird noises. The rats were kept on set for nearly a week so they would be nice and relaxed for their big moment.
