When Producer, Dan Campbell and Director, Jude S. Walko, first scouted the La Tavern (Irish Pub) in Nevers, France, they were offered a local beer. The bartender serendipitously served them a Bellerose Beer, which is coincidentally the last name of the Main Character of the story, Lucy Bellerose. This led to an eventual product placement deal with said beer company, and to Walko adding the scene where Lucy discovers the exact same beer in the exact same bar, uncannily bearing her name.
The actual name of the Chateau used as "Castle Borley" in the film is Dunderry Castle, and is owned by Gary Sullivan of the O'Sullivan (O'Suileabhain in Irish) Clan. He is the real life Count of Knockgraffon.
During the opening title sequence a large inflatable soccer ball can be seen affixed to the Eiffel tower in connection with the UEFA 2016 European Championship, of which France was the host country and finished as Runner-Up. This reveals the exact time period which the film was shot on location in France.
Producer, Dan Campbell, cameos as a Marine in the film and in real life served as a 0311 infantry rifleman in the United States Marine Corps from 2005 to 2011 as a member of 3rd Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division.
The postcard Lucy pulls out of her purse, in her ride from the Paris airport, is addressed to "Mademoiselle Lucy Bellerose 1223 Sunny Lane Apt. A-113 San Diego, California, USA, 92219". This was a writer's homage to the famous Animation classroom, A-113, at the California Institute of the Arts. The reference is often hidden in many Pixar and other animated films.
