Avis à la une
Love her or hate her, Franca Sozzani has had an enormous impact on our world and this film captures her and her thinking and that impact, without a lot of filter or fuss.
I am fan of what she has done? Not at all. Some of it / much of it offends me but it has happened and I am better / smarter for hearing her side of it and seeing the motivations and thoughts that drove it.
She is annoying, self centered, narcissistic? Yes, probably but she is a genius, she is someone who did not let society's expectations of her, stop her from getting her passion, her art out.
If all of us put as much energy and passion into whatever we did, the world would be unrecognizable.

Over all kind of annoying documentary depicting a self centred, harsh lady, no matter how 'talented' she was. I would say more of a business lady rather than a visionary.
The interviews with her son come across very annoying as she treats his kind of sweet son with disrespect. Her harshness was probably due to her insecurities. Having said that the documentary is watchable.
While we want to watch a docu series about Franca and her huge role and accomplisments on fashion, we come across with a constant effort of her son to show his videos as a baby and a son that speaks stupidly to his mum and always trying to correct her WITH ABSOLUTELY NO REASON.
thank you
I feel sorry for the son to have to deal with an arrogant nutcase..
The suitable place for this homage should be YouTube or Instagram. Not NEFLIX.
It's very annoying for the audience to display many covers without enough time to see one for at least one second. Ridiculous editing. After watching the 'doc' I didn't find any value (other than he obviously suffers from mommy issues). If you are interested in Carla editorial work (I'm not) just get a book about her. There is also another one about Grace Coddington and likely Carine. Better use of your time. What she did for Vogue is not unique to her. Many editors-in-chief desperately seek to shock their imaginary -yet delusional- target audience, as a way to supposedly sell more issues. What is interesting about Carla is that her inner self is the total opposite of her delicate looks. She turned out to be ruthless, superficial and materialistic, not an angel at all. Overall a disappointing experience, not just with the documentary itself but with her. After watching it, I am not interested in anything touched by her.

As an insight into Vogue Italia over 3 decades this was just fascinating - the film also includes lots of the photographers, designers and others who were so influential over this period - Peter Lindbergh is my personal favourite. The fact that the film was made by her son gives it extra edge - some might not find her a likeable character, I did but inane case you gives an honest insight into her world and her motivations.
