Kreuz des Südens

Sometimes, sleeping dogs just need to be left alone. Wake them and they will bite you. The lead protagonist knows this and is trained to do it anyway. Good story, acting and pacing to the story. The ending, like they so often do, is surprise. Reading subtitles slowed me down but was well worth the time.

There are many movies about cops who moves to another city - or to the country - and has to solve some crime.

This movie is one of the these, but has some original and interesting moments. It's a simple, not expensive movie, but it's not amateur at all.

To viewers who like a good crime-solving movie, with a unique personality, worth the watch.

(2014) The Village /Kreuz des Südens (In German with English subtitles) THRILLER/ MYSTERY

Co-written and directed by Barbara Eder has criminal officer, Tommy Wehraschitz (Andreas Lust) receiving a serious head concussion during a failed hold up job. By the time he recovers still in a hospital bed, he is then advised by his doctor he needs to get away from the city refrain from using his computer and driving. Meanwhile, sometime at the opening, Tom mentions to his partner, his dad Josef used to manage an abandoned school from a small village called "Burgenland" . And because his dad's been dead for a while, and has not fully recover from his concussion, he decides to take the opportunity to head back to the village he used to grow up in to clear the debris so that his realtor can put it on the market. He does this by having his partner drive him there as he is not permitted to drive himself.. At this point, we are somewhat oblivious or vague about his relationship with his dad but that he was estranged.

The previous reviewers have explained the plot, so I just want to mention that I am completely puzzled by the ending. Was it an ending or did they cut off the last part when they brought it to Prime Video? No question it was a cliffhanger with no answers. I can't find anything online to explain it. If there's anybody out there who got a different version of this show to watch where there was an actual ending. Please come back here and comment on my review. I think I will have no peace until I know.

That unfinished ending is why I gave this only three stars. It was certainly very dark. Auf Wiedersehen.
