Avis à la une
"Crossbreed" is a pretty straightforward story that pits space marines against a alien bio weapon. It is simple but at moments it strong in representation and aesthetics. Reminiscent of mid-nineties space fare like "Jason X" and Syfy stuff back when it was spelled correctly. Vivica A. Fox is great in her limited role as Commander-in-Chief, Madame President. The marines are stereotypical, but tolerable.
Special effects are a mixed bag of cheap CGI and slightly better game-play level. Still it works and gives an entertaining affectation to the action sequences. The creature design and limited practical effects give "Crossbreed" it's real selling points. Plus add in some quality cinematography and the film is worth the watch. Just remember to go in with b-movie expectations.

Simply embarrassing. Couldn't watch more than 15 min altogether. Too painfully bad. Awful script, amateurish acting, childish artwork...
This is so badly written, a Berkeley student could have done it.
The dialog is extremely bad and unnatural and the acting even worse, seemingly just so they could shoehorn a ridiculously dressed "strong sassy black woman" stereotype into the role of "female black president" (as opposed to President).
If you enjoy Sci-Fi, pick another film

Right, well already from the movie's poster presentation alone, I figured this was going to be one of those pseudo-low budget movies that will not be cheesy enough to be enjoyable, but also not bad enough to be laughable.
Sure, this was exactly that. And while writers Brandon Slagle and Robert Thompson did try to come up with something interesting, it just all crashed down when you realize that this is essentially just a cash-in on the 1995 movie "Species", with with minor tweaks, a lesser budget and not as big acting talents on the casting list.
Was this enjoyable? Well, no, not really. Unless, perhaps, if you turn out to be a huge sci-fi nerd. I am not, so I didn't really find much enjoyment in this movie, which felt like a strange mash-up on an 1990s action movie and "Species". A combination that might sound interesting in theory, but at the hands of director Brandon Slagle, not so much.
The movie brandish Vivica A. Fox and Daniel Baldwin on the cover. They are in the movie, certainly, but as mere supporting performers. So, don't get suckered in by these two performers being on the cast list.
The special effects in "Crossbreed" were atrocious, given the fact that this movie is made in 2019. The creature design was abysmal to look at, and it was so painstakingly just a woman with horribly bad make-up and special effects added to her body. It looked like they just plastered on some soggy cardboard at times.
I managed to endure the movie to the end. Why? Well, because I wanted to finish it, and a movie has to be really, really bad before I end up turning it off. "Crossbreed" is one of those sci-fi movies that you never heard about and happen to stumble upon by random, questionable luck. Then finding yourself wasting an hour and thirty minutes, give or take, of your life on watching it. I sat through it to the end, but can honestly say that I will never be venturing back to watch it once more.
