This is seriously one of my favorite shows of all time. I never thought I could laugh so hard even while reading subtitles! I had always watched this show using various websites, then one day I stumbled upon it on Netflix. I was happy to see that netflix picked up one of my favorite shows from over seas. 20 minutes into the first episode on Netflix I started to realize that something was very off about the show. The subtitles were much worse than what I was used to, their were no funny video effects or extra subtitles for korean words on the screen, and worst of all everytime they played music it was DUBBED over probably to avoid copyright infringements. The show was also shortened by a lot and cut out some of the funniest parts. I very much recommend this show to anyone who wants to laugh their off, but just know that if you are watching this show on Netflix you are missing SO much of what makes this show so great!
Found this gem on netflix (men on a mission on NF) but started to watch all eps online. learnt so much about the Korean culture and the celebrities. also great to see a different side to celebrities as they get to talk. also love the games they compete it. The humour is top notch. love the banter they give each other even when its borderline topics other shows dont touch.
A group of adult men dress as children in a classroom and each episode a new group of students join them for fun and mayhem. I must admit to enjoying many of the fun games and mayhem of each episode although I think each episode is over long and becomes plodding at times. I think more knowledge of the people starring in the show is beneficial because apparently it is highly critical of the previous behaviour of them. My discomfort comes as the an adult dressing up as a schoolgirl or schoolboy blurs the boundaries between adult and child and a school uniform should be the ultimate signal of sexual unavailability.
I was browsing through kdramas on netflix and this kept popping up. Eventually i gave in, took a look and watched a random episode with skepticism and loved every weird second of it. Australia gave up on this kind of show 20 years ago and it's fantastic to see real humour, real people being funny, serious and crazy, celebs, eye candy and insane uncomfortable challenges. Admittedly i've watched the eye candy episodes i like best first, but even if i don't recognise the transfer students it's a tonne of fun. I just wish Netflix or whoever edits it wouldn't cut bits out and make it so obvious. It's even helping me learn Korean, believe it or not! I'm going to watch it all, and i hope it doesn't end!! it's a winner for me!!!!
The good. Most of the time up to date guests. Especially the kpop stars are nice to see in a different setting.
The bad.
The hosts. Especially Lee su-guen and the new full time host take too much the foreground.
So I like the concept and the silly essay except that the same silliness can be found with the same hosts in different series.
I highly regard kdrama's . I think the editing and writing is second to none. And I do like the ideas of the TV shows. But they get stale after a while.
I am watching shooting stars and I keep watching for the women and coaches. But both commentators / hosts. One of which is Lee su guen drag it from an 8 to a 5.
So his range of commentating is rather limited. It is very loud and actually doesn't contribute. He is rather critical to some players and overly applauds other plays and players.
Other times he says something based upon the first thirty minutes. While it has nothing to do with the situation,.
The editing well basicly they show a twenty minute match in the final hour.
So you hear the same loud screams from the commentators a couple of times. As there are a lot of replays from different angles.
The first thirty minute is build up.
They made an exception in one episode showing the shootout in the next episode. That was a big miss.
So basicly in knowing bros. He comments on the divorce of 2 other hosts almost every episode.
He laughs with his own jokes and often is unaware of what others are doing. It is like he goes in temporary blindness or deafness when he gets an idea and executes it. Originally that was funny. But now they are just repetitive.
The main host has the tendency to act cute. He is more aware of his limitations and he is willing to take the receiving part. All other hosts are often at the receiving part and that makes it work. Apart from the two mentioned hosts.
The show depending on what the segments are can be excellent to barely watchable.
Another host nearly knows all about the music in music quizzes and while that is amazing. Well it doesn't make good TV in my opinion. A lot of tension is lost that way.
Anyway I recommend watching a few episodes. But be aware that it might become repetitive. Especially the dissing of the hosts among themselves.
One of the best segments. Is when a guest tells a story that falls in slice of life category. Some games are fun as well.
