    A Complete Misfire

    Bigfoot Captured (2015)

    * 1/2 (out of 4)

    It's hard to believe that The History Channel would show something like this. I know a lot of people bash the station for not doing more "history" items but I've enjoyed their various specials over the years but this thing here is without question quite a head-scratcher. In fact, BIGFOOT CAPUTRED would have been better on something like SyFy.

    The film tries to do two things at once. On one hand we've got Bigfoot experts trying to claim that he is real and we see them going out and interviewing a few people who have encountered the creature. The second portion of this film is a scripted drama about a group of people who go into the woods and capture Bigfoot.

    Right at the start of the film we're told that portions of the film are fake. History Channel sold this movie as, like the title says, evidence that Bigfoot is captured but this here is the scripted segments. Why on Earth would you even do this? I'm sure there are some dumb people across social media who might have thought this was true but that speaks more about them than the actual film in question. None of the stuff is entertaining and as far as a "movie" aspect goes, it's downright stupid that they're trying to pass it off as something real. If you want to see something better go watch WILLOW CREEK.

    I love all things Bigfoot but this documentary was just downright bad. Even the documentary footage is rather boring and doesn't cover any new ground. There are a couple times where we "encounter" Bigfoot but these scenes are just poorly directed and certainly never creepy or scary. I'm really not sure what anyone was trying to do with this film but sadly it's a disaster and just doesn't work.

    Why would history channel allow this fiction?

    I do believe bigfoot is real, BUT this show comes off as a documentary though it says "some parts are for dramatic effect" or something...but at the end it's clearly fictional but they don't say "which parts" are fictional. The whole thing was confusing. I thought it was a documentary, but then I it was more like Blair witch project. Not something I expected on history channel, though I do normally love bigfoot documentaries (real ones). The only reason I gave it more than 1 star is because the makeup and costume (i assume) was actually pretty good! And I like the real scientific parts (very few but some parts were real).

    Another piece of crap show!

    Another show where they never actually find anything. I'm getting so sick of these fake shows that get people to watch them only to find out nothing at the end. A big waste of time where I could be watching a good show. These people need to get a life and quit wasting peoples time with false information and poor video and doctored photos. If Bigfoot really existed someone would have found proof by now. Especially with all the cell phones and game cameras around now. It would be almost impossible to stay hidden in this day and age. None of these types of shows ever finds any real proof of anything!

    Stop the scripted Sasquatch shows

    While the show did manage to bring a brief moment of reality(having Dr Meldrum was nice although I'm pretty sure he was lied to about the purpose of the film) the rest of the film was nothing more than make believe with some good cgi imagery. My beef is that with all the legitimate research that is being done to help scientifically prove the existence of bigfoot along comes a bogus show like this that does more harm than good for the scientific endeavor. This was solely done by a aspiring film maker to make a buck and get his name out there. Even photo and video evidence they showed was just a rehash of stuff that has already been in every other show.

    Bigfoot Captured (Mockumentary)

    Right from the get go, for anyone who thinks this History Channel offering is real, spoiler alert: IT'S NOT. An OK film piece but clearly a MOCKumentary; like the Mermaid Found films and The Cannibal in the Jungle. If such a creature as Bigfoot, Sasquatch, or whatever name one wants to give it, had been captured and brought back to civilization it would be major news in the scientific world as well as the rest of the world. It wouldn't be buried on a cable channel. One beef I had is that a respected scientist such as Jeff Meldrum got involved (or got suckered) in such an enterprise. As for the film itself, the situations are creepy, as all stories of Bigfoot are. The forest guide who doesn't believe in Bigfoot is at times aggressively annoying in his disbelief. Some of the scientists are scary in their determination to prove the existence of their theory, even to the point of killing such a unique creature. When they capture the being they hear it sing at one point. Are they impressed. NO. They ignore the fact that a hominid creature singing proves that it has a higher level of intelligence than gorillas, chimps, and the like. Spoiler alert: When Bigfoot escapes (it probably picked the lock itself) the scientists act like highly out of control spoiled brats denied a prize. I personally believe in the POSSIBILITY of Bigfoot, but until it is proved as far as I am concerned it is still a cryptic creature. That means it is not proved. I hope if or when it is proved that the proof doesn't require a body. That would be a crime against nature. In the meantime, enjoy this film for what it is, a piece of fiction.
