Good to recognize Togo

...as I've always heard only about Balto, who was commemorated. This is an excellent, heartfelt film, revealing the heroism of the dogs, particularly Togo.

This movie was absolutely amazing from beginning to end . Dafoe delivers a stellar performance . Must watch .

Amazing story!

What an amazing film/story of this remarkable dog named Togo. I watched this film with my 11 year old daughter and we were both struggling to keep the tears 😭 from falling. At the end my daughter was crying cause it was so touching. A REAL movie to watch!

Excellent movie

Great story and a true story to commemorate the real hero dog Togo. I wonder if they will change the statue in New York to reflect the dog that saved the day. Well worth watching

It's 1925. Leonhard Seppala (Willem Dafoe) drives his dog sled home to Nome, Alaska and his wife Constance (Julianne Nicholson) ahead of an epic storm. The team is led by his beloved lead dog Togo. There is a diphtheria outbreak which threatens the town's children and there is only one man who can travel the distance to retrieve the needed serum. His dire quest becomes a media sensation.

This is an old fashion Disney doggie movie in the best way. It is Based on a true story. It has its thrills. It is heart-warming. It's a simple adventure. Dafoe is great. The ice stuff is fantastic. The Balto bit is the cherry on top. This is Disney at its old fashion finest.

Anecdotes
Unfortunately, the original serum package only contained enough serum for 30 doses and there were already 28 cases of children and adults stricken with Diptheria, and new cases were coming in. A week later, on the 8th of February, nine of the original mushers together with twelve others had to do the entire relay all over again. Neither Balto, Kaasen, Seppala nor Togo was involved in the second run. The second relay took 36 hours more to complete.

Gaffes
In the film, Togo and Balto both have blue eyes, and so do many other huskies in the film. Some huskies also have heterochromia. The real Togo had brown eyes, as did the real Balto, and the Siberian Husky didn't develop its blue eyes until around the 1940s.
