It's not the worst movie out there but it isn't the best either. One of the ways I judge movies is if I can tell the characters are acting; when the acting is so good you forget it's a movie/series until it ends because you're sort of immersed into the world created by the movie. But the actors in here try so hard to act. I don't think it would have been a great movie with this plot but if the actors tried to act more natural and work on the chemistry a little more it would have been better movie.
Don't get me wrong it's watchable,if you're bored with nothing else to do on a Sunday, it's an good way to spend your afternoon, just that it's one of the movies you forget about afterwards. It's just about better than a mediocre film.

As I write this review a rating of over 7 is far too high. I'm not really too sure why so many people rave about this. To my mind it's like an extended episode of Beverley Hills 90210. It's slow. Ponderous and the acting is average at best.
The story is odd and why a very rich guy would just take in a random makes no sense and makes for a completely unrealistic journey. I ended up not caring about any of the people in this simply because the movie?? Just didn't work for me at all. As the story progressed it actually gets worse and becomes even slower. This could have been done in an hour very easily.

I thought this movie was going to be about something completely different. It is a beautiful story, and a new favourite of mine.
I started watching this film with no real expectations at all, I just liked the general plot, and thought let´s see how it goes.
You cannot tell if it´s a teens movie for grownups or viceversa, but I found myself inmersed into the story, and actually caring for the main characters - Shelly, Wes and Greg -, and thinking about persons in real life who have to live with some of the things that these characters have to live with.
So, basically, it turned out not to be what I thought it was about, based on the general plot, but a lot much better, with a good and great message of how important it is to count with good friends in your life.
It´s slow, but it needed to be in order to get you there where it wanted; at least it was my case and it worked very well for me. I didn´t wanted the movie to end.
So, not to spoil anyone, it´s a story told in a simple way, with some cliches here and there, yes, but it gets to the point. Everyone can be better, yes. Surround yourself with good friends - there are only a few of them in life -. And also of the same importance, be you a good friend too.
Really, loved this movie.

This movie was not what I was expecting! Much better than I had anticipated! We all need a "Wes" in our lives to support and to encourage us. --a parent like him, but that's not always the case. The relationship between Shelly and Wes ends up being far more meaningful than I could have ever imagined. Wes' intentions are honorable and NEVER creepy. I intend to buy this movie so that I can re-watch it as many times as I want. I think this movie is THAT good. The many relationships in this movie felt very genuine. Forgot I was watching a movie. What a wonderful surprise. The ending was nice and hopeful.
