Avis à la une
TLDR for those that don't want to read my review: great film, slow burn, film told partially in flashbacks & unique idea in its genre.
This was surprising good. I was expecting something cheesy with a bit of tension or a few jump scares & there were none! That's refreshing in a low budget flick.
Part of my surprise came from being told this is a horror & the rest came from the cover. It's more of a thriller or noir type with a supernatural twist. Impuratus is nothing like The Exorcist or one of the many knock offs. It's also not like anything in the Conjuring universe, from the ones I've seen.
I've watched so many horror / thrillers that I can usually figure out who lives / dies & any twists within 20 minutes. It's so refreshing to watch a movie where I knew where the story was going, but I couldn't figure out how it got there until right before the reveal. Then there's another twist at the end I didn't see coming & I love it! The writers did a great job taking a tired, overused trope & putting their own unique spin on it.
The actors all did good to great in their roles with the detective & patient being the best in my opinion. This movie deserves to be a cult classic. I recommend this wholeheartedly.

I like Tom Sizemore to begin with he's a solid actor and this being his last movie I had to see it regardless of the reviews. I thought it was excellent in many ways, very edgy with plenty of dingy and dark spooky scenes. I was trying to figure out what the hell is going on and where this was going. Did a good job of keeping my attention and kept me guessing..
I think the entity characters look was pretty wicked, kind of reminded me of the movie seven. Remember the guy in bed that looks dead but wakes up. Oh yeah, anybody that rated this low on the scale needs to watch it again without being distracted! Gave Tom an 8 on his way out, be careful this movie could be cursed? 🍿 RMS.
First off, I've liked Tom Sizemore, RIP, in some of his past movies. It seems like toward the end of his life, he was pumping out a lot bad scripted movies. I thought he looked terribly sick right away and his voice was badly broken. It is overly long and I too had to FF through a lot of the historical flashback. The movie to me had the sense of a play more than a movie. Special effects were below average. The ending itched of some sort of sequel, and was another one of those, you guess what it means endings. Seemed really low budget in general. Small cast, small sets. And misdirected. There are better things to watch.
The movie is simply terrible but the acting manages to be even worse. Its almost funny, like some kind of parody.
You keep asking yourself which One is the worst because they all sucks so bad, its amazing.

I actually made an account *specifically* for reviewing this movie as i believe the ratings are a bit unfair, the reviews are worse. Some of them make valid points, but i think others are needlessly over-critical. The one about watching it on 1.5x speed... come on, do you even like watching movies at that point?
This director hasnt made many movies. Its obviously a bit lower budget. HOWEVER, as someone who's watched hundreds of horror movies, i honestly enjoyed this. Its not perfect, but its creepy and entertaining and keeps you intrigued
i do agree with other reviewers that the plot was a bit convoluted and couldve been condensed down. In parts (the beginning, especially) the acting isnt really very good. That being said - there are many movies that have convoluted plotlines and/or bad acting that are well loved and highly rated.
TLDR; its entertaining enough, its a fun watch, a little creepy and i enjoyed it. Dont go into it expecting too much, like hollywood-tier production and john carpenter-esque screenwriting. Its decent for what it is.
