    A sequel? A prequel? Anyone?

This seems to be part of a bigger universe, and I strongly suspect this is a prequel of sequel to an exisiting film. The character os Sienna reminds me a bit of Laura Croft meets the Terminator, in a messed up way. The film has an almost dread-like Star Wars feel, which brings it close to the David Lynch Dune universe. Someone obviously spent a lot of time developing the universe here, because of all the hidden gems that appear upon second viewing. Definitely in my top 1000 films, beyond that, time will tell if I like this film as much in a few years. Hoagland, the robot (named after Richard Hoagland) almost steals the show.

Earns its place in my heart for being a wonderfully enjoyable fun trip through the stars

With this being a science fiction film dealing with a battle between good and not so good, a lot of people will have to try and compare the film to something or other. Before having seen the film, people might think oh Star Wars or Star Trek but there is more of a wonderful Mad Max meets Resident Evil (although there are no zombies in Rogue Warrior).with Sienna being such a great character and played so well by Tracey that I actually thought to myself a couple of times 'Move over Alice, Sienna's in town (in a reference to the Resident Evil franchise) Im still not a fan of recommending a film by saying 'it's like this film, or like that film' but that's the way it's done nowadays

The high concept pitch is more often than not, the way to go and it works for Rogue Warrior:Robot Fighter. That's not to brush aside the ton of originality that you'll find in Neil Johnson's film and whilst Tracey Birsdsall's Sienna is a wonderful blend of Furiosa/Mad Max, meets Alice from the Resident Evil films and some Selene from the Underworld franchise, But even with those ingredients. Sienna is definitely Tracey's role and she makes it her own being super watchable and likable as she battles to survive against robots and the harsh landscapes she faces throughout the film (and the fact the scenes were shot on location, makes the landscapes seem even more hostile)

Neil Johnson's direction is brilliant, and if you are inclined, then check out the estimated budget for the film on the IMDb page. Lets just say that for the money spent on this film, you couldn't even film a single episode of Game Of Thrones. I often say that budget doesn't matter to a film fan. A low budget doesn't make a bad film, and a high budget doesn't make a good film But with the low budget (and it is for a scifi film but its still a lot of money) Neil Johnson has made a film that looks like it should have cost ten times the money spent on it. The visual effects are not only fun but also very effective in the film but they always have been in the other films of Neil's I've seen he certainly deserves the 'highly visual filmmaker' and knows what he is doing when it comes to making this type of film.

Rogue Warrior is a ton of fun to watch and with a set of great characters and a universe that just begs to be explored in future films, I for one hope that the film does what it needs to do in order for Neil and crew to venture into further installments of the series. I love that Rogue Warrior:Robot Fighter got me a little nostalgic. As a child I used to love watching science fiction films that became cult classics such as Spacehunter:Adventures in the Forbidden Zone, Krull, Metalstorm, Battle Beyond The Stars to name a few. I can easily see myself rewatching Rogue Warrior over the years as it ends up in my cult collection. Science Fiction films are a treat for me and I love watching new takes on them as well as ones that homage others. But for today. Rogue Warrior:Robot Fighter very much earns its place in my heart for being a wonderfully enjoyable fun trip through the stars.

    Parody -- but of what?

I rarely rate a film 1 -- mostly because I avoid them. But for some reason I got this from Netflix, and felt obliged to watch (no, I don't know how it got into my Netflix queue).

The first 40 minutes were so stupid, I could barely stand it. All this AI, but giving them robotic voices. The pneumatic, platinum blonde main actress. The tired tropes.

A complete waste of time and money. JUST AN OPINION.

Worth a watch especially for the women out there

CONS: Some of the robot voices are hard to understand. A lot of lens flares. Have to watch a few times to figure out the plot as it's really fond of twists and turns even though it seems straightforward at first.

PROS: Finally we have a male character who is the eye candy! I think that maybe some of the annoyed reviews is because SkullCrusher is essentially taking place of the traditional girly sidekick who is there to look pretty. He can act, but his arms are very distracting. ;) The story is interesting, a few moments that caught me off guard. A female action star that is actually kicking ass and gets utterly filthy and sweaty and looks like running in those boots is a giant pain but doable. I'm very tired of watching girls bounce in dental floss and appreciate they didn't constantly refresh her makeup to look dewy instead of tired and gritty.

Essentially all women out there, watch this. There's only a few women in this film but they all have an interesting roll -would have liked to see more of Xarxis(?)- and I took it as a tongue in cheek poke at classic storytelling. If you'd made Sienna a male character I bet a lot of these reviews would have been nicer.

    "Mystery Science Theater 3000" Material

This was absolutely one of the worst movies I have seen! The story line, production values, acting, editing, just everything felt like it was made by high school kids in the AV (audio/visual) club. The first ONE minute, showing battles between the A.I.s and humans, was the best part of the movie, but it then immediately went downhill... scratch that... after the first minute it then plunged over the side of a cliff.

The only good thing this movie has going for it is it is excellent material for "Mystery Science Theater 3000." In fact, while watching the movie I kept inserting my own jokes just to muddle my way through it, and that is how I immediately came upon the thought of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" and wishing I was watching it with them!

Although the spaceship and poster layout looks remarkable similar to the Mandalorian, the film came out a full 2 years before the show premiered on Disney Plus in 2018. Director Neil Johnson cites this as a co-incidence, though notes that both shows have the same space prison deign - the white hexagonal walls look almost identical, and Neil considers this a wonderful homage to his own film.
