When I stumbled upon this 2015 movie, that I had never heard about, I figured that it was most likely a movie from Maverick Entertainment, and I based that assumption on the cover alone. And true enough, amazing that it is possible to discern a Maverick Entertainment movie from the cover alone. I guess I've seen too many of their more-often-than-not questionable movies.
The storyline in the movie was not great. I am not sure that spending more than six minutes of the start of the movie by showing short clips with no dialogue and over-dramatic music playing to set up the storyline was the best of choices from writer and director Jomae Scott. Why? Well, it was quite boring and downright annoying to sit there and look at the series of short clips edited together to form a narrative without dialogue, and having over-dramatic music blasting at you at the same time. And once the movie did start to have dialogue, you just sit there a curl up your toes as it was often rather cringeworthy dialogue, and it didn't help that it was delivered without any conviction most of the time by the actors and actresses.
Needless to say that I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. While some of the acting performances were fair, I have to say that they were overshadowed by a lot of performances that were wooden, rigid and amateurish.
The music in the movie was a bit too much. It just was somewhat over-dramatic, especially when you were taking in the things that happened on the screen whilst the over-dramatic music was playing.
"Bold Evil Liar" looked, felt, and sounded like an amateurish home video attempt at making a movie. The editing in the movie was pretty terrible.
My rating of writer and director Jomae Scott's 2015 movie "Bold Evil Liar" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.
