Most Annoying Narration and Filler Music

The allure of these types of shows is to give viewers a peek into the lives of the gory, gross and unfortunate mishaps of those who are brave or vain enough to require or opt for aesthetic/ cosmetic surgery for whatever their reasons. We already know what we're getting ourselves into... the name of the show gives it away. What we don't need as viewers is the CONSTANT narration with the tone of voice attempting to make each upcoming scene seem like it's going to be a never-before-conjured-in-the-minds-of-humans scenario, that could and surely might end in the patients never recovering, with a dramatic backing score to support it. There should be a simpler, less invasive narration that doesn't emphasize the crap out of the title of the show, "BOTCHED UP BODIES," every fifteen to twenty seconds. The content is what it is, but it could be a little more intimate with regard to emotions of the patients and the surgeons. I truly dislike the set up of jumping from patient to patient for such a long period of time that the viewer essentially forgets about who they even are, as well. Viewers will sometimes see five or six other patients' stories and then revisit someone they've forgotten about only to get an unsatisfying less than one minute recap of the situation that was built up for seven long minutes.

The problems I see with Britain's National Health Service.

Here in America, we do things differently...thankfully. I watched as surgeons, private as well as those in the NHS preforming full, open anatomy, general anesthesia surgical procedures with NO FACE MASKS. In fact most of the episodes show no one at all in the entire surgical theater wearing face masks. Many of these surgeries are to fix problems caused by infections resulting from the original "Botched" procedures. Yet they take no thought or care to cover their mouths and noses while in surgery. One surgeon was sitting next to the gurney and had blood in several places near his mouth and nose. Now, it is not just a danger to the surgical staff but mostly for the patients for cross contamination. A sudden reflex sneeze or cough anywhere close to the open incision sends mucous and sputum out in a near atomized form to possible infect a patient.

I was truly shocked to see these surgical habits. Another was doctors and surgeons in their exam rooms, examining a patient with no protective surgical gloves on...ever. Even examining a patient's inner lips and mouth, in post surgery follow-up.

The rule I believe should be, never give anything you have to the patient and don't get anything from the patient.

I know the NHS is a deep, deep hole the UK pours money into. But you would think, for the sake of not having more doctor caused health problems and thus, more delays for patients needing to be treated, that the health providers would take all common and necessary precautions in caring for their patients.

My takeaway from the show is this. If you need or want something done, don't go the cheap route and head to Thailand or some such place. If it's worth having it done, then wait to have it done properly. Next, if the doctor doesn't take these precautions, spend a few pounds and buy them for the folks treating you to use.

Finally, if I am ever sick in the UK and it's not an emergency, I'll wait until I get home. That or travel with sealed face masks and exam gloves.

A little precaution goes a long way. Preventive medicine starts with, don't make your patients sicker than they were when they came to see you.

    Love this show

They're not afraid to show the real life situations and are almost completely uncensored. The American version of "botched" is nothing compared to this. Just wish Netflix carried more seasons!

    No masks on surgeons?

I noticed right off as well that the surgeons weren't wearing protective masks. And they seemed to be talking while they worked? Personally, if I were to be opened up I would want them to be as "antiseptic" as possible. It's a good show in that it warns people of what could happen with cosmetic surgery. I was horrified at what had happened to some of these people. Some of them needed no cosmetics at all in the first place! So much spent and lost for the sake of vanity. Some needed help, but turned to the wrong place. I may not be perfect, but I am content with the way I am after watching these shows.

    Eye surgery.

I just started watching this series. And as far as I can tell, all of the doctors are wearing surgical masks while operating. And they are also wearing gloves.
