Peacock has announced the lineup of movies, TV shows, and live sports that will be available on the streaming service in September. The Peacock September 2025 schedule includes The Paper, Love Island Games Season 2, Epic Ride: The Story of Universal Theme Parks, and more.

Kick off the month with laughs when Peacock Original The Paper premieres on September 4. From the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch in the Emmy Award-winning series The Office comes a brand-new story — this time following a historic Midwestern newspaper and the determined publisher fighting to revive it.

Trivia buffs and puzzle pros rejoice! Starting September 9, for the first time, fans can stream brand-new episodes of Jeopardy!

A couple of years ago, Kyra Elise Gardner – who happens to be the daughter of special effects artist and puppeteer Tony Gardner, who has been bringing killer doll Chucky (and Tiffany and Glen) to life for the last twenty years – took viewers on a journey through the Child’s Play franchise with the documentary Living With Chucky. Now, Deadline reports that Gardner has made her scripted feature directorial debut with the horror dramedy Slay, which also happens to be the feature writing debut of actor Jimmi Simpson.

Mara Brock Akil’s TV adaptation of Judy Blume’s beloved teen romance novel “Forever,” has officially landed on Netflix and it features a stellar cast of longtime actors and fresh faces.

Akil’s “Forever,” which tells the first love story of two Black teens, Justin and Keisha, marks the “Girlfriends” creator and mega-producer’s debut at Netflix after establishing her Story27 production banner with the streamer and signing a multi-year agreement to write and produce scripted content and other creative projects for Netflix.

It’s 1989 and Ryan Taylor is a tough cop with a reality TV show, In the Name of Justice. It’s something like Cops, if it was shot live and starred Harry Callahan. Neve Campell and Skeet Ulrich are best known for co-starring in the horror classic Scream. They also starred in The Craft (1996). The witchy cult classic will soon be available to stream on Max.

The Craft will arrive on Max on January 1st. Released the same year as the original Scream, Campbell takes on another iconic role of Bonnie Harper in the teen supernatural film. And while not as large of a role, Ulrich would once again work with Campbell to play the jock Chris Hooker. Directed by Andrew Fleming and made with a $15 million budget, the film was a box office success on its release, opening at number at the North American box office and grossing $55.6 million total. While The Craft has been to an average critical reception with a 6.4/10 on IMDb, the film is beloved by fans for its dark themes and subversion of typical family-friendly Halloween movie tropes.

Yesterday, we shared the news that Scream Factory’s line-up of February 2025 4K releases consists of Ghosts of Mars (2001), Humanoids from the Deep (1980), Galaxy of Terror (1981), and Sick (2022). Blumhouse is one of the biggest names in horror, and one of their four-year-old movies has found new streaming success. The production company now regularly releases anywhere between four and 12 movies a year, partnering with distributors like Warner Bros., Universal, Lionsgate, and Paramount, as well as streamers like Netflix, Prime Video, and Peacock. Though the stories, casts, and overall quality for Blumhouse movies vary from title to title, the films are generally made for less than $20 million, and they're generally horror or horror-adjacent.

2020 was a complicated year for Hollywood with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic causing global theatrical shutdowns, but several Blumhouse movies were still able to break through. Ready for another round of Beef with double the star power? The Emmy Award-winning Netflix original comedy-drama series is taking the anthology route with its long-rumored second installment. After months and months of whispers, Netflix officially confirmed Beef season 2 on Oct. 22 and announced the four leading cast members that will be beefing.

While the first season was led by Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, Beef season 2 will star Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny. The names of the talented stars' characters have yet to be revealed, as do a number of other details about the second installment, including further cast members and a production start date.

With the blockbuster success of her 2024 movies Civil War and Alien: Romulus, Cailee Spaeny has proven herself to be the breakout box office star of the year. The Alien franchise is back on the big screen with Alien: Romulus, which is currently the highest grossing horror movie of the year with $101 million made here in the United States and $331 million scared up worldwide. The film is still going strong at the box office with no at-home release announced at this time, and in fact Romulus just passed another huge milestone.

IMAX has announced today that Alien: Romulus is now IMAX’s highest grossing horror of all time at the global box office, with $40 million in ticket sales for IMAX theaters alone.

The production budget for Alien: Romulus was a reported $80 million, relatively low for a franchise movie of this size and scale, so it’s turning a big time profit at the box office.

The highest grossing movie in the franchise to date remains Ridley Scott’s prequel Prometheus with $403.3 million in 2012, while follow-up Alien: Covenant ended...

The Alien franchise is back on the big screen for the first time in seven years with director Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus, which is notably the very first Alien movie to be released under the Disney umbrella. Most fans and critics agree that Alvarez has done another horror franchise proud with Romulus, which is currently 82% Fresh over on Rotten Tomatoes.

But how did the film fare at the box office in its opening weekend? Here in the United States, Alien: Romulus debuted in the #1 spot with $41.5 million, giving the film the second highest U.S. opening weekend for a horror movie this year behind A Quiet Place: Day One.

Worldwide, the sequel to Ridley Scott’s original horror classic Alien opened with $108.2 million.

The first film in the Predator franchise in the wake of Disney taking over 20th Century Fox, Prey went direct-to-Hulu back in 2022, but the Alien franchise’s first film under the Disney umbrella is getting a big theatrical release this weekend. But that wasn’t always the case.

As you may recall, Alien: Romulus was originally announced as a Hulu movie, and director Fede Alvarez explains what changed – and when it changed – in a new chat with Variety.

It was back in 2021 that Alien: Romulus was planning a Hulu debut, which Alvarez says was “a reaction to theaters being completely gone” at the time, deep in the heart of the pandemic.

“That decision was not made at the point where theaters were healthy,” Alvarez explains to Variety. “[But] it was always going to be an ambitious movie for [a streaming] platform.”

Director Fede Alvarez took an all-practical approach to the film wherever he could, shooting Alien: Romulus much the same way Ridley Scott filmed Alien back in 1978. On the heels of Andy Kelly‘s Perfect Organism: An Alien: Isolation Companion, author Mike Diver has announced a little book of his own involving Alien: Isolation. Only this time, the book won’t stop at Creative Assembly’s hit title.

Announced via Diver’s X account, he’s currently in the process of gathering interviews for Aliens: The Video Games (working title), a book that will serve as “a complete guide to all the official (and some unofficial!) games” inspired by the Alien film series. Obviously, Alien: Isolation will be one title, but the book will focus on games from the 80s all the way to the present.

Further details on Aliens: The Video Games are still to come, but according to Mike, it will be coming out in “a year or so”, so keep an eye out for it.

20th Century Studios calls Alien: Romulus a “horrifying return to the big screen” in a brand new featurette video that’s loaded with fresh footage we hadn’t previously seen before.

The featurette video, embedded below, looks at the legacy of the franchise and where Romulus fits into the timeline, while also discussing the film’s practical approach.

A brand new image from Fede Alvarez’s (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) Alien: Romulus has been shared by Empire Magazine this morning, introducing us to the franchise’s latest hero.

Played by Cailee Spaeny, her name is Rain Carradine, and she’s pictured in the brand new Empire image alongside actor David Jonsson as Andy, “her android foster brother.”

Alvarez explains the dynamic, “When her father was dying, she left Andy to be a kind of caretaker. But Andy is a bit damaged and he’s an older model. So more than a surrogate father, he becomes a younger brother to her. And that was always the heart of the story: this relationship between the two… and how that relationship unfolds once shit hits the fan.”

This week, it was announced that the Netflix sequel would be titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
