Nearly every knit or crocheted item in the film was supplied by volunteers working from period patterns. More than 200 women answered a tweet from Pauline Loven in October 2013 when she requested assistance. Yarn donated by several companies, and a Kickstart campaign was successful in raising funds for more yarn. Patterns came from a variety of sources, some original and others from reproductions. Most knitters were from the UK, but at least 5 were from the USA.
