Katie Says Goodbye

This movie is a real life gritty drama. Katie (Olivia Cooke) and her Mother live in poverty and sell their bodies to make ends meet. Katie is saving up to move away from it all to California when she meets a man she falls in love with. Simple story but a very important one, I fear this is every day life for more young women than we realise. It's a movie not without some flaws but powerful and keeps you watching. Olivia Cooke shows us just how strongly talented she Is in this very tricky role. Just recently in my own life I've been faced with moving away to the other end of the world alone and starting life for myself and it's not an easy task. So there were parts to this movie I could relate to. Katie is more decent than the majority of people despite what she does to earn extra money, good morals and kindness, willing to take the blame for things she didn't do. 8/10

Im not really big fan of olivia but this was really played well by her. She had it bad but 'kept walking'.. very good drama

Well. What a film and what a performance by Olivia Cooke. Such a gentle creature as portrayed and yet the world vomits on her eiderdown. I would cheerfully kill those people who were so cruel to her and yet her spirit seems to be unbroken, depending on how you interpret the ending.

Sensitively written and directed and good acting by all - it has to be if, as I did, you feel that you'd like to punch many of them in the face.

When you want to see a a sad but accurate view of the cruelty of mankind here's a brilliant example. In the same class as Monster with Theron and Ricci. Memorable

Olivia Cooke gives a knockout performance as a teenager trying to better herself but constant obstacles make it difficult. It's a slow burn film that's quite depressing and hard to watch. Also a few controversial scenes that aren't for the faint of heart.

The film was made in 2016 but looks as if it's just surfaced now... It's definitely one of the better films I've seen in 2019 so far.

It's not a 10/10 film but it's certainly worthy of a higher rating of 6.7...

The performances from everyone in this film are good, especially Cooke and recommend it to anyone who loves great cinema and doesn't need crazy CGI and action to solely satisfy their viewing needs

Katie waitresses at a remote Arizona roadside diner and lives in a mobile home with her depressed mom, who spends the rent money on booze. Instead of being overwhelmed by these circumstances, Katie has set her sights on moving to San Francisco to become a beautician. In order to realize this dream, she supplements her meager wages by prostituting herself to local citizens and passing truckers - and keeps her savings from these encounters in a shoe-box under her bed.

Katie is cheerful and resilient to a degree which stretches credulity, but Olivia Cooke does extraordinary work to keep her believable. Meanwhile director Wayne Roberts extracts fine performances from the rest of his cast. Despite her engaging personality, Katie has made enemies as well as friends in town - and when she falls in love with a taciturn ex-jailbird mechanic and quits selling her body, they show their true colors. The script piles troubles onto Katie's shoulders as her altered lifestyle becomes the catalyst for anger, betrayals and dangerous hostility.
