So I came across this on youtube the other day and I did bit of research on it, and I discovered that this film was a directorial debut from Adrian Matthews (II), someone without any existing credits or any other experience in the industry.
Now, knowing myself and having a lot of experience in the industry, I wouldn't exactly praise the film for perfect execution, but just knowing that someone who hadn't worked on anything before just picked together a stellar cast and crew and put together a really fun short simply amazes me. To not know the challenges of filmmaking and jump right in and end up with a result like this one? I'm seriously impressed.
This film did have it's flaws though, the blocking was a bit sloppy (sorry that's on the director, but hey it's his first time) and the lighting was a bit odd, which took away from the visual quality of the film. Other than those two off-putting factors, this film was very well executed, it had stellar acting, interesting camera angles, cool visual effects and perfect sound.
So good luck to you Adrian! I hope your abilities take you far into the industry!
