Dear Star-Kids: Its Not Compulsory To Become An Actor!

Why do every star-kid believes that it is his/her fundamental, God- given right to become an actor? Both Sooraj Pancholi & Athiya Shetty fizzle out, deliver a sub-standard performance which should never have occurred.

The only saving grave of the movie is the intense confrontation between Aditya Pancholi and Tigmanshu Dhulia.. except that, the movie sucks.

Completely illogical concept and logic of the screenplay. Even if I assume that the targeted audience of this movie is a 17-year old kid, there is no way you can show Mumbai to Kashmir journey completed in 2 hours or a bullet wounded guy, slipping into a fast flowing river, emerging with nothing but 2 cuts on his arms!

The cliché:' Ek gunda kabhi IG ki ladki se pyaar nahi kar sakta' was repeated so many times, that it was cringe worthy actually. Dialogues are the worst part of this movie.

And Salman bhai's hangover on the whole movie was actually way too much.. his song is played after every 10 minutes, and his style of action, dialogue delivery and antics is visible all the way to the end. As if Nikhil Advani had only been appointed as an obligation.

Disappointing movie.. If you want to retain the magic of the original 'Hero', then don't watch it. 1.5/5

A bore fest, stale and bad acting by the leads, this should stop now.

"Khota hai, par mera hai" Aditya Pancholi correctly said for Sooraj.

'Hero' starts with a heavily tattooed Sooraj (Sooraj Pancholi) flexing his muscles and thrashing the goons, one by one or all of them at once. The villain also says "Hero ki tarah entry maarta hai, khud ko Hero samajhta hai kya". Now you can have an idea, what are you going to watch for next 125 minutes? It is the remake of "Hero" which made Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Sheshadri stars overnight, it was Subhash Ghai and it was also 1983. Then the love story, dialogs, action scenes, melodrama and villains were not clichéd, but now these are truly are, but it has a soulful music.

It has been three decades and we are watching same thing with different star cast, high voltage action sequences, a muscular protagonist and Athiya Shetty.

Screenplay does not offer anything but clichés, cheesy dialogs, every frame is predictable, forced comedy and but it has some unpredictability too, that is the songs, because songs can come at whatever time. Nikhil Advani thought- "We don't have anything to show, let us insert a song" this way he has inserted six songs. Writing is poor and it does not give a scope for any character to behold the story.

Sooraj could have done better if he had concentrated on his acting than musculature, he used all the screen time arching his muscles and doing death defying action scenes, at one point he escapes a bullet as a bicycle comes in front from nowhere. Athiya Shetty screen presence is bad and her acting too. Sooraj and Athiya speak Hindi doing a weird accent which does not exist, when we speak Hindi.

Tuigmanshu Dulia has been wasted and looks indifferent, other casts have nothing good to do.

I think Nikhil Advani was in haste as he has to release another movie too because his direction was really bad.

Ctrl+Alt+Delete should be the name of the movie.

Not recommended.

Only title gets copied, magic is lost

One of the major strength of original Hero, is its magical music, which is still far far better than this Hero tracks. It seems that either creative team was reluctant or confused while making this flick. Story wise, I could not understand it. Screenplay fetch irritating comedy and out dated love scenes, like male protagonist offers Jacket to female, that is in a club!!! Girl says that "Main Kabhi Akele Khana Nahi Khati" so that boy can join her!!! I didn't get the point, why she started loving him, perhaps for his six packs!! Oops eight packs. I.G whispers in criminal ear but just then pours water on his face in front of every one. What a contradictory behavior!? Film starts with typical super star type fight scene and a dance number. Any actor earns superstardom by time not by showing off. Girls brother sees that her sister is not on gun point or any forceful manner, she is riding as pillion then why did he not prefer to announce on P.A to inform her sister and clear all confusion, just because it has to be interval point!? Film moves to different locations just for showing the beauty of locations not for the requirement of script. You can easily find the bruise mark on male protagonist face, changing places and intensity in song "Khoya Khoya Dil". They took care about bruise mark at least but just forgot about gun shot. Movie is already slow and pre climax makes it just crawling. Performance wise Sooraj Pancholi as Sooraj is as flat as he could have been. Speaking lines is his only performance. Surprisingly Athiya Shetty as Radha looks beautiful in some frames and acts well too. She has a spark. Tigmanshu Dhulia is very good as I.G. Vivaan Bhatena as Ranveer Shekhawat is a damn good actor. Rare combination of good physique with apt performance. Music wise "Yadad Teri Yaddiyann" is melodious.

Pathetic movie

Really don't know what is wrong with Salman ? movies do not ride safe just on his name or a song that he sung. Movie cannot run if he just says lies after lies, few are as below.

1) Sooraj will replace me ? come on Salman, he has to live may be million years more to come close to you 2) I have involved in frame by frame making of this movie - top most lie, and if it's not lie then this should be his last attempt to get involved into film making

This film is so lousy along with it's hero that that lady man Heropanti's hero look legend against Sooraj.

Tigmashu Dhulia - please stop acting, if you have not noticed your facial expression remained same all along the movie. You should stick to making Saheb Bivi & Gangster movie where you direct good actors unlike you.

Total waste of time

This movie is complete waste, stinking garbage. Bad acting, bad script, boring, predictable, illogical. Songs are untimely. Dialogues make you dizzy. I wonder, why they made this movie in the first place. It doesn't make any sense! How can one expect such a movie to work? It's a Salman Khan production. Do big stars also can't imagine which is a good script or who is a good actor before making a movie? This movie is an example that Bollywood is not mature enough to make meaningful yet commercially successful movies in regular basis. If you have two hours to spend go watch kids playing or watch cloud move, just don't waste your time in this. It's awful.

Shift+Delete. ♦ Grade F

Newcomers have a tough time staying afloat in the volatile entertainment industry. In 2020, when there will be no trace of either of the lead actors of this film, we can finally corroborate that the previous statement is, in fact, true.

After he's done with his theatrics, heroics, and groovy dance moves, Sooraj (Pancholi Jr.) is assigned the task of kidnapping the daughter (Shetty) of the city's Inspector General (Dhulia) by his gangster-turned-politician father (Pancholi Sr.) on grounds of political vendetta. Soon idiotic dialogs encapsulate the drama that has the power to put off its viewers, because in here arguments turn into long-winded sessions of romance, and kidnappers fool around with their captive. Just because the original villain is the real life father of the so-called hero of the film, he's not sent to the gallows at the end. But worry not, because we have some random villains kicking the bucket. It is basically a love story where the characters use words like "calculate" & "alt+shift+delete" to describe the situations. You now know what you're looking at.

Pancholi Jr. has a long way to go if he wants to stick to acting that is not solely driven by his toned body, and Shetty may want to check her options. Taking a French bath and screaming your lungs out is not considered acting. Dhulia is the only good man in the film which eventually drags the hell out to reach a point of stagnancy.

BOTTOM LINE: Hero has a tried and tested story, but the actors playing the characters are like a bunch of toddlers who are yet to grow milk teeth.

GRADE: F

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

Seriously: This is an awful flick

I really am astonished by Bollywood for casting these stupid flicks even now. Same old same old. A street thug falls in love with a rich or influential girl whose daddy is of course, either a respectable man in society or an honest police officer.

The girl, obviously, does the same shitty deal again and falls in love with this thug (like it's a norm in the Indian society, phewww). Now they fight together to win their love. Love is in the air, the same shitty screens again. When will Bollywood grow up and people will stop wasting their money on these shits.

It's pathetic to watch, can't even stand for half an hour.

My advice to people who love meaningful movies, movies that really represent the true face of society, problems, real deals, please don't watch it. You'll feel like betrayed.

Excellent

A very romantic film, tender and full of action, I am happy with the movie. This film lets you see how the love changes the lives of many characters, and what starts out as something so far removed from love ends more close to him. In this film you see how two characters fight for his love, and when you see this fact, this film touches you enough and we inevitably feel tenderness to see this. I love this movie, is one of the few movies that I had seen that worth seeing. This movie contains scenes with dialogs and songs that are a majestic work of art, the cameraman and all the workers who helped make this film certainly they did a great job, I congratulate you. This film give you a good time entertainment. Congratulations! Excellent movie!

To make a remake is not a SIN, but to make it so casually murdering its actual characterization turns it into a much bigger PAAP.

To begin with, if a person is eager enough to either appreciate or criticize HERO just because its produced & presented by Salman Khan then that would be a faulty way of watching or rating the film unarguably. So let us keep 'The Salman factor' associated with the project aside and consider this as an important debut venture of a young 'industry' couple willing to win over the audience through their honest efforts.

But moving ahead, the second hurdle HERO is bound to face inevitably is the comparison with its original musical gem HERO (released in 1983), that is still fresh in the minds as well as in the precious collection of Hindi film music lovers all over the world. The present version of HERO largely follows Ghai's classic in the first half and therefore cannot avoid the comparisons drawn by the viewers, being an official remake coming after 32 long years.

However, respecting the makers as well as the debutants relying a lot on the film, I would like to keep the comparison for the later part of the review and begin with the film as a fresh release presented with a major publicity campaign. So as a love story with the catchy title HERO, introducing two youngsters from the families belonging to the industry itself, what can be the first thing expected from the film by the excited viewers?

The very first thing has to be some kind of novelty in the project in terms of storyline, execution, sequences, action, conflicts, the loving chemistry and the soundtrack making it a worth watching experience for all. But sadly Nikhil Advani's HERO has got nothing to offer in these crucial departments and the film simply remains a lazily or rather unintelligently made project relying too heavily on the person promoting it from the front having a gigantic fan following. In fact watching the film progressing so boringly on a badly written script with nothing engrossing at all happening in those two hours, one is forced to assume that maybe it's the case of too many cooks spoiling the dish as the saying goes. Probably too much interference coming from all corners (Shettys, Pancholis & Khans) turned the film into an unentertaining mess that was supposed to be a remake of a highly enjoyable and hit movie of the 80s. Commencing on a very poor note following the typical Bollywood format and a below average party song, HERO fails to make any kind of impact within its first 20 minutes itself and then everything happening so quickly defying all the logics simply puts the viewer off before the intermission only. Post interval it even stops following the original and goes on with its own clichéd and mediocre plot with no sense of time-gaps or logical justifications as such.

To say the least, there is no depth found in either the two persons loving or the others opposing their love right till the climax. As a result, you never feel like watching an intense love story with a lot of conflict involved. The film begins and keeps delivering the same seen before sequences one after another without caring about the people sitting in the theater having spent their hard earned money and time. In other words, HERO of 2015 can easily be presented as a perfect example of most irresponsible film made in the present times playing with two young careers.

Also its a film having the most inappropriate people chosen as the cast, who fail to establish any kind of connect with the given roles be it a father, an uncle, a bhabhi, a mother or the villains. So where Tigmanshu Dhulia falters big time in playing the father (despite being a gifted performer), the rest of the actors simply play their roles as another usual assignment signed to earn some quick bucks. And as it is said, nothing can hamper a film more badly than a wrong casting.

A fine cinematography and action accompanied by some mediocre writing, sloppy editing and dull dialogues keep affecting the film at various points. Like its really amusing to notice an inspector suddenly giving the instructions from a helicopter, who was just doing the same at the ground in exactly the previous shot. Moreover a scene showing the girl praying to BUDDHA considering him as a GOD, clearly reveals how much less the writers as well as the youngsters know about the enlightened soul and his views about the existence of God.

A big letdown in the music department too, the only likable track remains the Salman Khan number that has been arranged well with a catchy hook line working fine. But God knows when the music directors would understand that by only calling in Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to render a track doesn't ensure you a hit song always.

Coming to the two debutantes, Sooraj certainly has got a decent screen presence with a solid physique to display, particularly in the actions sequences and Athiya Shetty looks pretty in some specific scenes only to put it honestly. However as far as the performances are concerned, they both got to thank their 'surnames' much more than the inherited talent, that needs to be accepted as a harsh truth at this particular point of time (as nobody knows what fate or luck has in store for them in the coming years).

In few words, Nikhil Advani's film quite brutally and shamelessly murders Ghai's HERO, particularly while adapting its fabulously written characterizations. And thus cannot be recommended for anything at all.

I still hate myself for attempting to watch it

Looks like a desperate attempt to finish a movie which the producers and the director had concluded was not worth making at the first place. Actors especially Sooraj, Tigmashu & Athiya tried very hard to act but they failed miserably in convincing the audience that they can change expressions depending on the scenes.

Movie has Just one nice thing Salman khan Production

The movie is below average. There is nothing in story.

A love story with fool and stupid heroine.

Who is villain in story is still confusing me. It could do better if they could have replaced heroine. But songs are nicely composed.

Lyrics are awesome. But for that you don't need to go theater. Hero's acting is nice. Action is nicely pictured. Dialogs are boring.

I could not recall a single dialog from it.

But it is still worth one time watch.

The film could have a better end.

Old movie was very nice. It has emotions and dramas and songs are still popular among youngsters.

NOT what i expected

Salman Khan's song was great, other than that its one of the worst movie i have ever seen. Foolish fights and impractical comebacks by hero just because he is a hero.

OK plot: the plot seemed feeble. It painted basically the idea that a bad guy(a goon and son of an alleged murderer),who was hated by the going to be father-in-law(an IG of police),kinda rejuvenates in love with a girl(IG's daughter).. I personally was looking for a better story than this one.

not a great acting by the new comers, Sooraj and Athiya. Although i liked the acting, which was kinda mesmerizing as usual, of Aditya Pancholi.

Overall the director tries hard to draw the film with bag full of emotions, which does not work out unfortunately.

Looking forward, with a feel of giving a second chance to both the new comers, in their next film. Fingers crossed ! Best wishes !

Sooraj (Sooraj Pancholi) is a gangster from Mumbai who meets Radha (Athiya Shetty), daughter of the city's Chief of Police. One day, Sooraj, under instructions from his gangster boss, Pasha (Aditya Pancholi), kidnaps Radha, in the guise of a police officer, by telling her that he received instructions from the police to take her away from city for some time. Later he confesses to Radha that he had kidnapped her. Radha has however fallen in love with Sooraj, and their love story creates problems for Pasha. What follows is a series of fights for the survival of their love story.

It's watchable! There is nothing extraordinary

It's watchable.. There is nothing extraordinary about this film. It was the big debut for Sooraj Pancholi and well, with Salman Khan's backing, the actor has turned out quite well. One thing that Nikhil Advani does right and probably the most sale-able thing in the film is Sooraj and Athiya's affable chemistry. All the scenes involving their romantic moments have been handled deftly and they truly form some good moments in the film. But unfortunately while showing these good moments, the entire movie takes a back seat. This movie has been cut out from the same fabric as Subhash Ghai's 1983 hit of the same name, director Nikhil Advani creates a similar effervescent ambiance as the original, bubbling with the energy of its young debutants.

Bad Begun is All Done!!!

The concept to introduce and launch siblings of veteran actors is not new to the Bollywood cinema starting from Kapoor's to Bachhan's and Deols and so on. But the the recipe does not prove right and successful every time. This recipe has not hold right for HERO of 'Hero' and Mr. Sooraj Pancholi (Son of Aditya Pancholi) is a fresh addition to the disappointment list. The movie revolves around a Kidnap cum love story sketch followed by parental disputes which are neither fresh nor attractive by any means like the old wine in new bottle. Sooraj has been brought up by Mafia King 'BABA'(Aditya Pancholi). BABA is in jail for murder allegations and IG Police is personally pursuing the case against him. BABA tasks Sooraj to kidnap 'Radha' (Athiya Shetty)the daughter of IG Police to level personal scores. Radha had already met with Sooraj in a club and was impressed by his dancing and fighting skills. Sooraj Kidnaps 'Radha' by pretending her to be a police official sent by her father for her security. She is taken to a snowy area where the love catches fire between them but soon Radha finds out the truth about Sooraj. She asks Sooraj to surrender to police and court and have a fresh start for the sake of their love. But this action is neither approved by IGP nor by BABA. Ultimately, Sooraj confesses in the court and is sentenced for 2 years in jail. In the meanwhile, Radha moves to Paris. After releasing from jail, Sooraj takes a fresh start and gives up his past profession. During Radha's stay in Paris, her brother lies to the family that Radha is dating his school friend 'Kunwar' who turns out to be a con and a gambler. Mr. Kunwar is on the run as he steals huge amount of money from BABA's Casino . While on the run, he meets Radha and On discovering the dating issue, he finds in it a God sent opportunity to seek protection from BABA. Unable to return the money, he broke a deal with BABA to bring Sooraj to him because he informs BABA that Sooraj is conspiring with IGP to arrest him so that he could win IG's Daughter. He did so but ultimately BABA finds the truth and Kunwar Sahab is killed in the action. BABA hands himself over to police and IGP accepts Sooraj. If you read and watch the whole plot, it cries out to be boring, ill-logical and clumsy. How easily a young, talented and smart hero has been wasted in an average movie is a question to be asked to Salman Khan. Moreover the casting specially the heroine, music and direction is sub standard. The whole scheme was bound to bite the dust and it proved nonetheless. An average movie with sub-standard direction and awful music.

Just Average

In this romantic action film, the daughter of an Inspector General (played by Athiya Shetty) and the son of a notorious criminal (played by Sooraj Pancholi) fall in love. Naturally, there is no easy path for such a romance.

From the clips and descriptions, I expected a much more romantic and emotional film, and was disappointed with the actual plot. Shetty and Pancholi, both in debut roles, had good chemistry. Pancholi was excellent, but I didn't feel that Shetty gave a good performance. Her unappealing character made a dramatic and unbelievable turn around from spoiled brat to sensitive adult, showing a weakness in story writing. The fight scenes were well-done, but the choreography and music were mediocre (with the exception of the fantastic "Main Hoon Hero Tera").

Honestly, the best part of this average movie was during the credits, when Salman Khan sings "Main Hoon Hero Tera" in a charming video. The movie is worth watching for that alone, but don't expect a great deal from the film itself.
