This movie is amazing! It has it all, beautiful scenery, an intriguing story, wonderful acting, and a surprise ending that pulls all of these elements together! The fact that the movie was filmed in the Grand Canyon adds an additional layer of interest when you consider the complications involved with filming in a National Park. You get very caught up in the story and the scenery! I wish I could see it again soon! It will appeal to all kinds of audiences, whether you're an outdoors person or not! I cannot recommend enough! Please get out and see it if it comes to your area. You will not regret it!

Being a member of the Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club, I have a special fondness for movies set in the outdoors. Granite Rapids Moon was that and so much more. The photography of the Grand Canyon was superb. I've hiked in the Canyon twice but never saw most of the vistas shown in the movie.
Not knowing what to expect of an indie film, I was delighted by the realistic, non-Hollywood storyline. Some of the characters were a bit weird, but if you have ever hiked the Appalachian Trail, you will have run into those kinds of characters--and more.
The surprise ending topped off a great film. If it's playing near you, do yourself a favor and see it--whether you love being in the outdoors or not.

A great movie with a storyline that is easy to follow. The cinematography was breathtaking. It caught the essence and magnificence of the Grand Canyon. I've read about many of the places in the canyon but have not had the opportunity to hike down. The characters in this film are well developed and their unique personalities shine through. The main character showed his commitment to a promise he had made in the past to hike to Granite Rapids. His spouse demonstrated her realization that this was an important goal for him to accomplish and was supportive. The actors did a great job. I highly recommend this film and would like to see more from this great production team.
What an accomplishment! A true adventure with stunning cinematography and an engaging plot. While not perfect, it marks a milestone in what can be possible. This film deserves a closer look by indie aficionados! The female lead is the anchor and there are few weak links in the cast. The storytelling is suspenseful and challenging. The characters are sympathetic even in their foibles and mistakes. The specificity of what it means to hike the Grand Canyon will impress real hikers and enthusiasts alike. I wish there was a Making Of documentary to go aalong with the film. Muat have been quite and adventure in itself. Enjoy!
Not having any notion of what to expect, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. Yes it is a film that involves many facets of backpacking but I found the more intriguing elements had to do with the growth of the main character to face past events and the relationships with others that you tend to meet on the trail. Sometimes it's nothing more than a nod, other times it can turn into lasting friendships.
The cinematography was outstanding. Hard not to feel inspired to lace up the hiking boots and hit the Grand Canyon after watching this.
If you can, I encourage you to see the film. You'll find it's a touching story with an ending I didn't expect, wonderful cinematography and a pleasant soundtrack. Enjoy!
