Avis à la une
The reason I liked the first Joe Dirt a lot was because Joe Dirt was a likable and kind of an innocent character. The first movie had some crass jokes and it had some dark humor in it, but Joe Dirt was always the shinning star of the story. He felt like a real character that was just down on his luck, the humor might have been silly and gross at times but Joe Dirt was still an innocent, Naive, good person looking for his parents. That was the core of the story. A good guy that did not have the best life and wanted to find his family. What do we get here? Just a cynical version of that character.
the subtlety of the character is completely gone. This felt more like am actual mean spirited Parody of the first Joe Dirt. there was nothing deeper to this movie than just the jokes and the cameos. Say what you will about the first movie but it at least tried to have a heart underneath all the jokes. What happened to "Life is a garden, Dig It" what happened to that? that's my point. This movie felt like if it was written and Directed by Robbie (Kid Rock) from the first one. The same exact thing happened to the Dumb and Dumber sequel and the Vacation sequel. any kind of innocence and naiveness those characters had was replaced by foul humor. Not sure what is happening to comedy anymore. Everything is just loud and obnoxious today.

"It's not 2015, it's 1965." Joe Dirt (Spade) has the perfect life. Beautiful wife, great kids and is happy, but still doesn't think he's good enough. After a tornado rips through his town Joe finds himself in the past. Trying to figure out how to get back home Joe realizes that this is his chance to change who he is and become the person he thinks his wife Brandy (Daniel) really wants. The more he tries to change the worse things get. This is a sequel that I'm not sure many people were asking for. That said it wasn't that bad. There was some funny stuff in this and was about the same type of humor, maybe a little more sappy, than the original. I do really like David Spade though. The movie was a mix of Forrest Gump, Wizard of Oz and It's A Wonderful Life all mixed with a redneck spin, and to me that actually helped it and was very fun to watch. This is nothing that will become a classic, and it would have bombed bad in theaters, but as far as a rental and watch at home movie you could do worse. I liked it and was entertained enough by it. Overall, if you liked the first one you will like this one too. I give it a B.
I genuinely enjoyed the first Joe Dirt. It was at times funny, touching, and was actually a fairly well made movie. I cannot say the same for Joe Dirt 2. Despite this film only streaming on Crackle, it managed to get the same cast as it had before. David Spade, Christopher Walken, and stuck with the same director, Fred Wolf. Yet everything about this movie is off. The jokes fall flat, the plot is boring, the acting is horrendous. There are the occasional jokes that hit their mark, but its not enough to make up for everything else wrong with the movie. The other problem I had with the film, is that they practically copied everything from the first one. You would think that would make this film good, if you liked the first movie; but that is not the case here. The plot is almost the exact same, which makes it boring. Some of the jokes are the same, yet their jokes that were only funny the first time. And the cast is the same, which after some time into the movie, becomes redundant.
Despite its unique, unpredictable path to existence, in the end, "Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser" falls victim to the regular traps of the comedy sequel.I gave this movie three stars, and thats because i only laughed three times throughout the entire film. Joe Dirt 2 may not be beautiful, but it is a loser.

Now I know why this didn't get a theatrical release. It's full of the worst thing a comedy can have: awkward, dead air. The first was stupid, low-brow humor, but it was really funny. This one made me want to stop watching after twenty minutes. Not only were the jokes not very funny, I feel like there weren't many of them. Most of it was awkward conversations. The movie would also randomly focus on characters other than Joe Dirt, and they weren't funny. You might chuckle a couple times but the humor is nowhere near as consistent as the original. If you liked the first one, don't watch it. If you didn't like the first one, definitely don't watch it. Just don't watch it.
I bought this DVD accidentally thinking it was the original. Took me a while to figure out what I was watching. Though disappointed, I kept watching and had a couple belly laughs. Lots of dick & fart jokes with some gay humor mixed in ("I ain't no party boy") just to be extra offensive.
The plot, if you could call it that, is just a mish-mash of plots lifted from other movies: WIzard of Oz, Back to the Future, Cast Away, It's a Wonderful LIfe, etc.
The only part that hit me with emotional impact was when Joe was talking to young Lynyrd Skynyrd bandmates about the fame and fortune they'll experience in the future. Then one says, "We could buy our own airplane!" OUCH.

- AnecdotesDavid Spade grew out his sideburns and facial hair for this movie. The original used his natural facial hair and synthetic hair glued on to look fuller.
- GaffesJoe meets the Galinda on the bench in present day, then recalls his story. In this story he ends his journey and meets her (for the first time as the story is in his past), finding out that she is a guardian angel. He recognizes her as the woman on the bench, but as this was the first time he had met her, he should have recognized her at the start of the movie as the guardian angel from the past.
