Harper (Myha'la) has undergone significant changes throughout all three seasons of the HBO finance drama series Industry. From a young, hungry junior analyst to a young, hungry venture outfit founder, she has undergone significant growth in the past few years. These changes are seen in how she carries herself, be it her dressing style or hairstyle. The latter has evolved over the years, sparking some theories that these changes are integral to the character's development. Myha'la has seen and heard those theories, and she thinks there is something to them. "I don’t want to give anything away, but what I can say is: all of y’all tracking the hair, you’re all right," the actress recently said while this year's Met Gala. While her statement does not explicitly confirm what Harper's evolving hairstyle represents, chances are it will be addressed in subsequent seasons of the show.

After the third season of HBO's critically acclaimed series "Industry" wrapped up at the end of September 2024, Harry Lawtey's character Robert Spearing was in a sort of bleak place. We now know that Robert — and, obviously by extension, Lawtey — won't be returning for the show's fourth season, which just recently began filming in the United Kingdom. Aside from "Industry," you may have seen Lawtey as Harvey Dent in the underwhelming 2024 sequel "Joker: Folie á Deux."
So why? In an interview with The Telegraph, "scheduling conflicts" were mentioned, but Lawtey seems at peace with it all. "Ultimately I feel like I'm in a place where I've said everything I had to say with a character, and I think both me and the writers felt mutually happy with where we left him," Lawtey said. "There was actually a stage direction after my final line, in my final scene of the show,...

The best Daisy Edgar-Jones movies and TV shows highlight just how quickly the star of Twisters, Fresh, and Where the Crawdads Sing has carved out a reputation for playing complex and nuanced characters. Born in London in 1998, Daisy Edgar-Jones found her footing appearing in comedies in dramas in the UK such as Cold Feet, Outnumbered, and Silent Witness. This began to change in 2018 when she led the cast of the indie coming-of-age movie Pond Life - her feature film debut.

Set in the close-knit community of an evangelical church in Manchester, Everyone Else Burns makes its triumphant return for a second season of belly laughs and thought-provoking fun. Drewing from writer Dillon Mapletoft’s own upbringing in a fundamentalist Christian environment, this cult sitcom charmed audiences with its first outing. While Season 1 centered around family man David Lewis’ ambitions and dreams for his children, the new episodes shift focus to relationships and matters of the heart.
As ever, comedy gold arises from probing the eccentricities of cult life through the day-to-day happenings of the Lewis family. Dad David remains a hapless leader, mom Fiona seeks purpose beyond motherhood, and rebellious daughter Rachel comes of age—now faced with the prospect of an arranged marriage.
Besides sharp wit and razor-thin social satire, what makes Everyone Else Burns such unmissable viewing is its deep care for humanizing even the most extreme of characters.

For nearly two decades, The CW wasn’t TV’s most popular network — outside of carefully curated demographics — but it might have been the network most confident in its brand. Shows on The CW looked and felt like they were shows that could exist only on The CW.
Currently, I struggle to find the proper analogy to describe the grab bag of acquisitions that fill The CW’s schedule since the network was acquired by the Nexstar Media Group.
Is the process of surfing through the CW slate, trying to guess a program’s origins, like taking a road trip with the family and playing the license plate game? “There’s New Mexico! There’s British Columbia! How did New Brunswick get all the way over here?”
Or is The CW’s strategy of picking up motley offerings that weren’t on the radar of Netflix or Hulu or Max...

The CW has renewed the British comedy Everyone Else Burns for season 2 ahead of its US premiere, demonstrating their commitment to acquiring cost-effective programming. The early renewal of Everyone Else Burns allows The CW to account for potential delays caused by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike and adjust their programming schedule accordingly.

Warning: this article contains plot details for Everyone Else Burns
‘We’ll meet the congregation, we’ll pray, shelter, and eventually bury the corpses of the sinful dead. It’s going to be very special.’
These are the words mum Fiona uses to describe the plan to her terrified daughter in the opening scenes of Everyone Else Burns, as dad David takes them on what the children don’t yet realise is a middle-of-the-night apocalypse training exercise rather than the real thing.
As sitcom openings go, it throws us straight into the action, and while the scene is disappointingly lacking in decent jokes, Channel 4’s latest comedy confidently establishes the Lewis family’s life in a super-strict apocalyptic religious cult.
Such speedy exposition involves some heavy-handedness as we meet pompous patriarch David, long-suffering wife Fiona (Kate O’Flynn), their anxious teenager Rachel and apocalypse-hungry young son Aaron (Harry Connor). The...

This is why I don’t do interviews,” says Simon Bird. “I regret everything I say.” I’ve just asked the 38-year-old star of The Inbetweeners and Friday Night Dinner about Rishi Sunak. In his 2021 mid-pandemic stand-up special Debrief, Bird suggested that Sunak, then chancellor of the Exchequer, was “personally culpable for gross negligence manslaughter”, branding his Eat Out to Help Out scheme an “act of terrorism”. “There was definitely an element of comic hyperbole there,” he tells me, somewhat pragmatically. “I don’t feel like it’s my place really to get into politics. Although, I mean, the reason you’re bringing it up is because I literally did get into politics... I’ve totally contradicted myself. But how do I feel about him being prime minister? Well, I don’t think I’ll be voting for him. And I’ll probably leave it at that.”

The upcoming holiday (in just a couple of days) may prove difficult to observe. Memorial Day was established (formerly Decoration Day) to remember and honor those who died while serving in the armed forces. But with the current crisis, group gatherings are discouraged (in some areas they’re outright banned for more than ten people), and many might feel unsafe (social distancing and all that) at cemeteries, One option could be this new film that will be available for home viewing (since most cinemas are still shuttered), a comedy/drama that’s inspired by true events (the main characters are composites while others are fictional). It’s all about a group of women, spouses of soldiers, who thought that a great way to honor those away (and support those behind) was to raise their voices in song. This new film is about a choir that inspired several groups around the world,...

Deployment day has arrived for the Flitcroft barracks. The soldiers are off to Afghanistan for a six-month stint while their spouses are left behind to raise families and attempt to stay sane. In a bid to help distract from the unavoidable worry, group activities are commonly brainstormed and executed for anyone interested in joining. And being the military, it should be no surprise that a rank-and-file hierarchy is adopted on that front too regardless of whether those forced into authority positions actually want them. As wife to the senior officer, Kate (Kristin Scott Thomas) always had. She enjoys the power it affords and the divisionary routine. With the recent promotion of Lisa’s (Sharon Horgan) husband, however, the duty now falls into her less regimented and more free-spirited hands.

"This choir isn't about singing for ourselves... it's about being heard." Bleecker Street Films has unveiled an official trailer for a "feel-good crowd-pleaser" film titled Military Wives, the latest film from the British director of The Full Monty. Despite the reality TV-sounding name, this is really a heartfelt dramedy about a group of women whose partners are away serving in the military in the Middle East. They come together and form a choir, and quickly find themselves at the center of a media sensation and global movement. The cast is lead by Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan, with an ensemble including Emma Lowndes, Gaby French, Lara Rossi, Amy James-Kelly, Jason Flemyng, and Greg Wise. This doesn't seem so bad! I was ready to write it off, especially with that title, but it actually has quite a bit of inspiration to offer. Here's the full official trailer (+ poster) for Peter Cattaneo's Military Wives,...

Bleecker Street has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to “Military Wives,” a British, feel-good drama starring Kristin Scott Thomas that made its premiere at Tiff on Friday, an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.
Several distributors chased the film following its premiere screening, and Bleecker Street plans to release the film theatrically.
“Military Wives” is about a group of British wives whose husbands are serving overseas in Afghanistan and decide to form a choir in their absence. Their joy for singing soon inspires a media sensation and a global movement. The film is directed by Peter Cattaneo (“The Full Monty”) and written by Rosanne Flynn and Rachel Tunnard.

“We don’t have the privilege to be against the war,” tuts a British wife to a peace activist. “We’re married to it.” Technically, she means married to an active-duty soldier, but as far as “Military Wives” director Peter Cattaneo is concerned, there’s little to distinguish the Afghanistan-sent men these left-to-fend-for-themselves ladies love from the machine that deploys them. When their spouses lose communication, each wife on the base gets an impersonal text at the same time, a chorus of pings and buzzes that simultaneously spook every house.
To distract themselves from negative thoughts, the anxious women form their own choir under the leadership of two officers’ wives, Lisa (Sharon Horgan of TV’s “Catastrophe”) and Kate (Kristin Scott Thomas), who jockey to decide whether they’ll sing pop songs or hymns. Lisa is the chillaxed mom of a binge-drinking teen girl (India Ria Amarteifio) who could learn...
