Indie streamer Nebula is expanding its scripted slate with a dark “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse”-esque comedy series from popular creator and YouTube star Maggie Mae Fish.

Per Nebula’s description for the “kids’ show for adults” series, “Welcome to ‘Amy’s Dead-End Dreamhouse,’ where a millennial navigating mental illness, job hunting, and impossible beauty standards gets life advice from her sentient household objects, unhinged guests, and surreal commercial breaks—turning adulthood into a fever-dream comedy.”

The six-episode series stars Maggie Mae Fish as the titular Amy, as well as Natalie Palamides, Bill Corbett, and Paul F. Tompkins. Special guests for “Amy’s Dead-End Dreamhouse” include Katya, Ify Nwadiwe, Jamie Loftus and Percy Rustomji. Musical guests include Tessa Violet and Sunder.

“Amy’s Dead-End Dreamhouse” is created by Fish and Will Reese, who together serve as showrunners. Fish writes the scripts alongside Bailey Norton. Executive producers include Nebula founder and CEO Dave Wiskus and Trenton Waterson.

Filmmaker and USC alumnus Jason Reitman is slated to receive the Jack Oakie and Victoria Horne Oakie Master of Comedy Award at the seventh edition of the USC Comedy Festival, set for March 28-30 at the campus.

The three-day festival aims to examine the role that comedy plays in shaping popular culture and social movements. The tribute to Reitman, the helmer behind such films as 2024’s “Saturday Night,” 2009’s “Up in the Air” and 2007’s “Juno,” will close the festival and include a Q&a on stage with film historian and critic Leonard Maltin.

USC launched the event in 2011, the same year it established the USC Comedy department with the goal of “championing comedy as a field of university study.” The festival has been held every other year since. The question of Betazed’s military power has been lingering since the portrayal of the Dominion War in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. That series seeded the power of the Dominion early on and slowly established the Gamma Quadrant conquerors as a real threat. But it wasn’t until the Dominion, and their Cardassian collaborators, conquered Betazed that the Federation truly took the threat seriously.

Comedy Central has revealed the talent list and premiere date for The New Negroes with Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle, a new music and comedy series debuting on Friday, April 19 at 11:00 p.m. Et/Pt on Comedy Central and simulcast on Bet.

Each series episode will include stand-up performances from three different comedians and will conclude with an original music video featuring Open Mike Eagle and a guest recording artist, with some guest-actor appearances.

Fangoria is getting into the TV business with Ghoul Gang Slumber Party, a feminist ghost-hunting reality comedy from Suki-Rose Simakis and April Wolfe. Fangoria is financing the pilot which is set to begin production in September in Los Angeles.
