After playing a key role in the original Netflix Daredevil series - as well as Jessica Jones and The Punisher - fans were surprised not to see Detective Sergeant Brett Mahoney return for Daredevil: Born Again.

Mahoney was determined to remain honest in a department full of dirty cops, and even though he was against Daredevil's (Charlie Cox) vigilante methods, he aided Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson in their cases and ultimately came to see the Man Without Fear as a force for good.

Mahoney was instrumental in putting Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) behind bars towards the end of season 3.

Now, fitness coach Naqam Washington has pretty much confirmed that actor Royce Johnson will reprise the role for season 2 of Born Again, which recently wrapped production in New York.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will feature another fan-favorite vigilante alongside the titular character. Ever since it was confirmed that Krysten Ritter would reprise her role as Jessica Jones alongside Defenders alum Charlie Cox, fans have been anxious to learn more about the long-awaited return. It seems her MCU debut will be as exciting as promised, while still feeling familiar to those who love the tone of the Netflix Marvel era.

During an interview with ScreenRant, Krysten Ritter was asked about her role in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Not only did she confirm that she will indeed put on Jessica Jones' signature boots again, but that fans of the Netflix shows will feel at home with the "gritty" second season. The extent of her role has not been revealed thus far, but it seems the Jessica Jones star is more than elated with how Born Again is treating the character.

Earlier this year, we finally got confirmation that Krysten Ritter will be reprising her role as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and the actress has now teased her return as the hard-drinking Pi during an interview with Screen Rant.

As you might expect, Ritter didn't get into plot details, simply noting that she is "thrilled to be back in Jessica's boots. There's more story for her and it's really exciting."

Well, it looks like that might be it for Daredevil: Born Again set photos for a while. Showrunner Dario Scardapane has taken to Instagram to confirm that shooting has wrapped on the upcoming second season. Reshoots are always possible, but it will now move into post-production.

When Daredevil: Born Again was first announced by Marvel Studios, it was as an 18-episode series. That was soon broken up into two seasons, though we'd later learn that season 2 will consist of 8 episodes rather than 9.

As for a potential season 3, that's been talked about but isn't likely to be confirmed until Disney+ sees how the second batch of episodes performs.

Filming for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 started on February 28, 2025. The show is being directed by Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, Meera Menon, Clark Johnson, and Logan Coles, using the working title Out the Kitchen 2. Hillary Fyfe Spera is back as the cinematographer from Season 1, along with Jeffrey Waldron, who’s working on some of the new episodes.

In late March, scenes were shot in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, at the set of Josie’s Bar, where Charlie Cox was seen wearing his black Daredevil suit in surfaced set leaks. In early April, actor Wilson Bethel was spotted filming in Chelsea. By mid-May, the filming was halfway done, and it’s expected to wrap up in July.

The latest set video confirms that filming is still underway. In one of the recent leaks, Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll are seen relaxing on set, further confirming that Woll will return to reprise her role.

Matt Murdock's long-time friend and partner Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) was assassinated by Bullseye in the pilot episode, prompting Murdock to hang up the horns... until he's compelled to suit-up again to battle crime and corruption in New York City later on in the season.

The decision to kill off such a beloved character did not sit well with some fans, but Cox believes it was necessary to "shake things up" a bit and give the story some genuine stakes.

"The awful thing that happens in Born Again, that was the gift for me as the actor, was the death of Foggy. I mean, tragic in terms of the show loses an element that, I think, was the heartbeat of Daredevil," said Cox during a new interview with SAG-AFTRA.

After leaving his ultra-violent fingerprints on Daredevil: Born Again, Frank Castle is set to return for his own Disney+ Punisher Special Presentation.

Star Jon Bernthal will co-write the script with his We Own This City director Reinaldo Marcus Green, who is also on board to helm the Special.

"It's like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story," Marvel's head of streaming Bard Winderbaum said after the project was made official. "It's so exciting."

Winderbaum went on to reveal that the idea for a Punisher standalone story manifested during production on Born Again, which saw Matt Murdock team-up with his old frenemy to take down members of Wilson Fisk's anti-vigilante task force.

"Bernthal is a generational actor," Winderbaum added. "He's incredible what he brings to all the roles he plays, but particularly Frank Castle.

The New York Governor was mentioned in the season 1 finale, though Commissioner Gallo never managed to reach her (what with the Kingpin crushing his head and all).

Taylor would go on to say that her scenes take place primarily in Albany. "I know Albany, and I know the politics there. We’ve got a set for inside, and then we did the outside at this really nice place in Tarrytown—that was the governor’s house."

Though it does seem to be a small minority of fans, Marvel Television's Daredevil: Born Again has received backlash for propagating a "woke agenda." The main reasons for this seem to stem from the perception that the show is anti-conservative and anti-cop, while also sidelining established characters such as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page in favor of more diverse supporting players.

But things don’t go as planned when Fisk gets the upper hand, and the season ultimately ends with Matt stepping back into the shadows. Daredevil: Born Again director Aaron Moorhead recently hinted at what fans can expect from the upcoming second season of the Disney+ revival. Moorhead previously worked with Marvel Studios on 2022’s Moon Knight and 2023’s Loki Season 2.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Moorhead opened up about the aftermath of the Born Again Season 1 finale, teasing the titular hero’s next step against Wilson Fisk’s totalitarian rule over New York City. "The end of Season 1 is a tragedy of some kind," he explained. "And while it’s not exactly a full-blown stand-up-and-cheer moment as there’s very mixed emotions in those final seconds, you get the sense that there’s a building of a resistance."

Towards the end of "Straight to Hell," Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) decides to take on Mayor Wilson Fisk's anti-vigilante task force (Avtf) alone. After brutally dispatching a number of cops, the Punisher is overwhelmed (whether he always planned to be captured is up for debate) and locked in one of Kingpin's holding cells.

In the post-credits sequence, Castle tricks his seriously gullible guard into approaching the cage before pulling his arm through the bars and snapping it. This will presumably facilitate Frank getting out of his cell, but is escape his only concern? Does the Punisher intend to put an end to Fisk once and for all?

The first season of Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again wrapped up this week with an action-packed finale that set the stage for the currently-shooting second season.

After realizing that he'll need "an army" to take on Mayor Wilson Fisk and his forces, Matt Murdock assembles what few allies he has at Josie's Bar to plan their next movie. It's fair to say that The Man Without Fear's team is still a little outgunned, but we have heard rumors about some old friends joining the effort to defend the city in season 2.

While speaking to EW, showrunner Dario Scardapane was asked about the chances of seeing Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and/or Danny Rand in the second season. He didn't confirm anything outright, but did drop some hints that Daredevil will be joined by some other "superheroes" in his battle against the Kingpin.

The season finale of Daredevil: Born Again, "Straight To Hell," is now streaming on Disney+, and Marvel Television's revival series certainly wrapped-up in memorable fashion.

Among other things, the episode featured a long-awaited team-up between the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) and the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), the return of Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) committing by far the most brutally violent murder in MCU history.

The final scene also laid the groundwork for an all-out war between Kingpin's Avta and Daredevil's allies (rumor has it he'll be joined by some old friends to help him defend the city in season 2).

The show has been met with a positive reception overall, but certain episodes were definitely better-received than others, and some fans seem to feel that Born Again never quite managed to reach the same heights as the original Netflix series.

Daredevil: Born Again delivered a thrilling finale, but many fans are understandably disappointed that the only other vigilante who appeared was The Punisher. 

Jessica Jones, Echo, and Spider-Man were all likely contenders to help Matt Murdock turn the tide against Mayor Wilson Fisk. Heck, if the latter never shows up for a clash with the Kingpin of Crime, then what kind of Friendly Neighbourhood superhero is he, really?

Daredevil: Born Again's first season wrapped up earlier this week, and it did so in an explosive, bloody fashion. Heads were crushed, martial law was enacted, and The Punisher was unleashed for some of the McU's most badass action scenes.

Today, Stunt Coordinator Philip J Silvera has shared some awesome behind-the-scenes photos and footage from "Straight to Hell." Those showcase the Man Without Fear's team-up with Frank Castle and The Punisher's clash with the dirty cops who worship him.

Silvera previously worked on Netflix's Daredevil and, when the creative overhaul happened, new showrunner Dario Scardapane brought him back to ensure this revival kicked plenty of butt.

The veteran stuntman also served as Second Unit Director on Daredevil: Born Again and recently talked to The Credits about how he approaches action scenes when dealing with a blind superhero.

"There’s always a different way we approach each of the characters.

"We are the city without fear."

With the season 1 finale of Daredevil: Born Again now streaming on Disney+, showrunner Dario Scardapane has taken to social media to thank his cast and crew, while also revealing when we'll see the Devil of Hell's Kitchen and the Kingpin back on our screens.

We had already been assured that season 2 would premiere at some point in 2026, but Scardapane has now announced that the show will return to Disney+ next March.

Marvel Studios has released a new TV spot for Daredevil: Born Again, and if you've yet to watch the season 1 finale, you might be better off giving this a miss.

It's not the only new content we have for you today, though, as Hasbro has unveiled its Punisher action figure from the Marvel Legends line. The likeness is excellent, and we'd imagine Hot Toys will also reveal its take on Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle in due course.

We've known for a while now that work is underway on Daredevil: Born Again season 2, and following last night's season 1 finale, stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio have shared a message with fans from the show's set.

In that, a battered and bloody D'Onofrio reveals that they're currently filming in Fogwell's Gym. Not only is this where Battlin' Jack Murdock used to fight, but it's a location we saw Matt Murdock train at during Netflix's Daredevil.

Set photos have confirmed that this will be the location of a charity boxing match with the Kingpin taking on someone called "Matter Horn." Later images revealed Daredevil locking horns with an old foe.

With Daredevil: Born Again season one in the books, Marvel Studios has released seven awesome new stills from last night's finale, offering a fresh look at some of the episode's key moments.

In the photos, we get multiple shots of The Punisher's (Jon Bernthal) return, who has arrived just in the nick of time to help Daredevil (Charlie Cox) get out of a bind. It doesn't spoil the episode's other big return, so we won't either.

Then, we also see Wilson (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer) share a dinner, and the Kingpin barking out orders to a room full of stunned staff, including Daniel Blake (Michael Gandolfini), Sheila Rivera (Zabryna Guevera), Arty Froushan (Buck Cashman) and Commisioner Phil Gallo (Michael Gaston).

Actress Margarita Levieva (Heather Glenn) also shared a batch of behind-the-scenes stills from the final two episodes, giving us a considerably more light-hearted view of the season's darkest hours yet.
