After a very intense and controversial Oscars season, Netflix scooped up three awards at the 2025 97th Academy Awards. That brings Netflix’s total Oscar count up to 26 statues. Here’s a full breakdown of Netflix’s past efforts at the Academy Awards and the full list of 73 nominated titles.

Netflix takes the Oscars seriously. They continue to have a massive team working on awards campaigning. Insider reported in 2022 that Netflix had a 40-person awards operation along with 15 consultants who spread their time working on campaigns for Emmys and, of course, the Oscars. Despite that massive spending and resource allocation, it’s still yet to win some of the biggest prizes of the night when some of its close rivals have. Apple TV+ notably scored Best Picture at the 2022 Oscars, and Prime Video has scooped some top awards, too.

Forget presents and festive cheer -- for many, the real gift of Christmas is that it allows us some precious downtime to revisit a few familiar festive faves. Short films continue to be a popular format that audiences can enjoy easily and quickly, with this year's Oscar nominees for the Animated Short Film category including masterpieces like Robin Robin and Box Ballet. These surprisingly haven't made it to the list of top-scoring ones on Letterboxd, a social media platform for film buffs that makes it easy for audiences looking for the must-see short films in cinematic history.

Those that have gotten near-perfect scores on the site are worth spending the 30 minutes or less it takes to sit through them. These include avant-garde works like La Jetée, Adult Swim entries like Opal, and even children's cartoons like Duck Amuck.

Coda took home best picture on a night where the big prizes were spread out amongst several titles.

When the initial announcement was made that eight categories would be pre-taped and then edited into the 2022 Oscars broadcast, we all knew the short film categories — Best Animated Short, Best Documentary Short and Best Live Action Short — would be the first on the chopping block. Locksmith Animation’s “Ron’s Gone Wrong” has won the award for best long form at the British Animation Awards 2022.

Locksmith, which was founded by by Aardman Animations veterans Sarah Smith and Julie Lockhart alongside Elisabeth Murdoch, picked up the award at a ceremony in London on Thursday evening.

The awards took place at London’s BFI Southbank and were presented by comedian Miles Jupp.

Other winners on the night included Magic Light Pictures, for their adaptations of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s “Zog and the Flying Doctors” and Scheffler’s “Pip and Posy,” while production co-ordinator Hodan Abdi picked up the Lamb award, which “bridges the gap between current categories which recognise student achievements and general best-in-class awards, and is open to any young professionals working in the animation and VFX industry.”

Pet taxidermy. Screw threads. Pickling. These are the delightfully strange obsessions of the family in Joanna Quinn and Les Mill’s short film. Audiences return to the life of Beryl, a middle-age, middle-class female hero who doesn’t hide her quirks and flaws or those of the people she loves. Much of the film is based on the filmmakers’ observations of people in their own lives and themselves. Beryl’s love of drawing is taken from Quinn’s own early passion for art and drawing. Mills often takes ideas for dialogue from conversations he’s heard. Quinn considered going digital for the film but ultimately went back to hand-drawn animation.

Belfast leads a strong UK showing for the 2022 Oscars, with seven nominations including best picture, best director for Kenneth Branagh, and supporting actor and actress for Ciaran Hands and Judi Dench respectively.

Nominations for the 94th Academy Awards were announced early Tuesday morning, and Western drama The Power of the Dog led this year’s race with 12 nominations, including nods for Best Actor (Benedict Cumberbatch), Best Directing (Jane Campion) and Best Picture. The 94th annual Academy Awards are here. Almost. With the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announcing the nominees live on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 8, we’re here to share with you all the Oscars 2022 contenders.

Going into the big morning a lot of eyes were on a number of fan and critical favorites. And if you’re rooting for Jane Campion’s deconstructionist Western, The Power of the Dog, you had a very nice wake up call with the film over-performing and surprising with 12 nominations, including a surprise second nomination in Best Supporting Actor for Jesse Plemons, who joins co-star Kodi Smit-McPhee in that category. It’s a real coup for Netflix since the once often snubbing streamer now has the film leading in nominees. The only competitor close in the nomination count is Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, and that was snubbed an expected Best Director nomination.

For Robin Robin, directors Dan Ojari and Mikey Please looked towards animated Christmas specials as inspiration for their musical animated short.

Robin Robin follows Robin (Bronte Carmichael), a young bird raised by a family of mice after her egg rolls into a dump. As she grows up and the differences between her and her family become more apparent, Robin sets off on a heist to prove that she can be just as good of a mouse as them. Richard E. Grant, Gillian Anderson, and Adeel Akhtar also voice characters.

This musical animated short has been shortlisted for the Best Animated Short category at the Oscars. Robin Robin was produced by Aardman Animations and is streaming on Netflix.

Nominees for the 53rd NAACP Image Awards are officially in, with Netflix taking the lead with 52 noms overall for titles across film and TV including The Harder They Fall, Passing, Bruised, The Upshaws and Maid.

The Harder They Fall’s nominations include for Outstanding Motion Picture, where it joins fellow nominees Judas and the Black Messiah and King Richard from Warner Bros, MGM/Uar’s Respect and Hulu’s The United States vs. Billie Holiday.

The show announcing marquee winners is set to place February 26 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt live on BET. The NAACP will recognize winners in non-televised categories February 21-25, with those ceremonies to stream on NAACPImageAwards.net.
