Paramount/Spin Master Entertainment/Nickelodeon’s Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie is moving from July 24, 2026 to August 14 next year.

The move puts the family movie from Cal Brunker in a richer place on the calendar since there isn’t a kids film in mid-August. While Paw Patrol 3 was going up against New Line/Warner Bros’ next Evil Dead movie on its old date, which so isn’t a threat, it would have been heading into the buzzsaw that is Sony/Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31.

The previous two Paw Patrol movies from Paramount have grossed close to $350M at the global box office. The threequel is produced by Jennifer Dodge, Laura Clunie and Toni Stevens, executive produced by Ronnen Harary and written by Brunker and Bob Barlen.

In part three, The Paw Patrol lands on a mysterious dinosaur island after a storm, where they meet Rex, a stranded pup.

Children’s entertainment company Spin Master Corp. announced today it has greenlit an animated, four-quadrant film directed by BAFTA and Annie Award nominee David Soren. This is the first original film by Spin Master’s entertainment studio, signifying a major milestone for the company behind some of the world’s most popular kids’ television series.

“The announcement of this original film showcases our ambition to expand our foothold in the family animated theatrical business,” said Jennifer Dodge, President of Spin Master Entertainment.

Dodge added, “As we broaden our content portfolio, we’re partnering with leaders in the industry to tell original, engaging stories, while also leveraging our established catalogue of IP. With David’s well-earned reputation in family entertainment, we believe this feature film will inspire and entertain audiences around the globe.”

Paramount Pictures also announced that “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2” is delayed. Previously Set For Oct. 9, 2026, the sequel to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” will now open a year later on Sept. 17, 2027. However, “Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie,” which was previously set for a July 31, 2026 release, is opening wide a week earlier on July 24, 2026.

As previously announced, Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun and Eric Nam will headline the voice cast for “The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.” Lauren Montgomery is set to direct and William Mata is on board as co-director.

The film takes place years after the events of 2005’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” which followed then-12-year-old Aang — a long-lost Avatar who learned to master the elements and save the globe from the ruthless Fire Nation.

The third installment in the Paw Patrolfranchise, Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, has rounded out its cast for the feature film set for a 2026 release. The third film will follow the cartoon dogs as they venture out of the city and into the jungle, and encounter dinosaurs. Per Variety, several notable Hollywood names have been added to the cast of the follow-up to 2023's Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie.

Unsurprisingly, veteran Paw Patrol voice actor Ron Pardo will be back voicing the roles of both Cap’n Turbot and Mayor Humdinger. However, a few of the names may have fans a bit surprised. Rapper/actor Snoop Dogg, who is no stranger to voice acting, having starred in the 2022 3D animated series Doggyland, voicing a character called Bow Wizzle, has been cast in Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie. Snoop also had voice acting roles in 2024’s The Garfield Movieand 2013’s Turbo.

“Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie” is rounding out its cast with all stars. Jameela Jamil, Terry Crews, Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, Bill Nye and Meredith MacNeill have been added to the third feature film alongside franchise veteran Ron Pardo.

The movie will release theatrically on July 31, 2026, and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures worldwide, excluding Canada where Elevation Pictures distributes.

This isn’t the first time these stars have appeared in children’s projects. Spin Master Corp. has announced that it is currently developing a live-action movie based on the famed Bakugan anime and toy franchise.

Via Deadline, Brad Peyton -- the director behind the 2015 disaster movie San Andreas and 2024's sci-fi movie Atlas -- is set to direct, write and produce the new film. While it has yet to be confirmed whether the movie will be based on any of the existing properties beyond just the toys, official comments indicate that Spin Master will be targeting young adults who grew up with the franchise.

Spin Master Entertainment has tapped Brad Peyton to write, direct and produce a live action movie based on the popular Bakugan toy line earlier turned into an anime adventure TV series.

Peyton and Lindsay Harbert will collaborate on a screenplay based on the global franchise set around a Japanese anime show and a strategic game that uses metal cards and magnetic, spring-loaded miniature figures that transform from marblelike balls into toy monsters.

Peyton’s credits include directing and producing Atlas, starring Jennifer Lopez and Simu Liu for Netflix, helming Rampage, the Dwayne Johnson-starrer that earned $428 million worldwide and he directed San Andreas, which also starred Johnson and earned $475 million in worldwide takings.

Netflix is signing up for even more Unicorn Academy.

The streamer has greenlit a second season of the hit children’s fantasy-adventure series from Spin Master Entertainment.

The leading global children’s entertainment company announced the show will have another 16 episodes, propelling the adventure across the next two years and into 2026.

Unicorn Academy first dropped on Netflix in November 2023 and was followed by a 44-minute special and nine 22-minute episodes that were released earlier this summer. In addition to season two, the show will also release complementary and short-form digital content available for fans on YouTube and TikTok.

Unicorn Academy is getting a second season.

The fantasy-adventure series will return June 27 on Netflix with a 44-minute special and nine 22-minute episodes.

The show hails from Spin Master, a global children’s entertainment company that’s behind such brands as Paw Patrol, Hatchimals, Melissa & Doug, Rubik’s Cube and Gund.

Spin Master, the large toy, game and kids-tv conglomerate has helped build franchises out of concepts like “Paw Patrol” and “Bakugan Battle Brawlers.’ Now the company thinks it can do the same with a group of young girls who have a knack for riding unicorns.

The company and Netflix plan to launch a new fantasy-adventure series, “Unicorn Academy.” Based on a series of books by author Julie Sykes, the animated series will launch with a 72-minute movie premiere and subsequent episodes, all slated for release this fall, followed by a toy line, digital game and licensed consumer product rollout in 2024. Spin Master Entertainment has content planned through 2025, with more than 250 minutes of short and long-form features produced to date including original shorts and music videos.

Director Benjamin Millepied’s “Carmen,” a musical starring Paul Mescal, will have its West Coast premiere March 25 at the 2023 Sonoma International Film Festival (Siff).

Another debut set to take place during the five-day festival is the world premiere of “Jules,” with director Marc Turtletaub and stars Ben Kingsley and Jane Curtin planning to make an appearance for the occasion. The screening will kick off the opening night of the festival on March 22.

Capping off the event are closing night films “The Eight Mountains,” which received a grand jury prize after its Cannes premiere, and Stephen Williams’ “Chevalier.”

Including the seven U.S. premieres slated for the festival, this year’s lineup features 110 films representative of 32 countries. In total, 38 narrative features, 20 documentary features and 52 short films were selected by the festival curators.

Apple TV+ today announced its fall slate for kids and families, featuring original series, new imaginings of properties, as well as returning series.

New original series coming to platform this autumn include “Sago Mini Friends,” an animated series based on characters from the Sago Mini World app; “Slumberkins,” a mixed media puppet / 2D animation program from the children’s emotional learning brand and produced by The Jim Henson Company; “Circuit Breakers” a futuristic anthology series that tackles kid-relatable issues through a sci-fi lens; and “Interrupting Chicken,” an animated preschool series which illuminates the joy of reading, writing, and storytelling, and stars the voice talents three-time Emmy Award winner Sterling K. Apple TV+ is ramping up its slate of kids and family programming for the fall.

The tech giant’s streaming service will debut four new series in the fall and offer up new seasons of five returning shows, including Ghostwriter — with an entirely new cast for its third installment — and Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show. Apple TV+ will also add eight Peanuts specials to its library as part of its partnership with rights holder WildBrain.

The four new series are preschool animated show Sago Mini Friends, based on characters from the Sago Mini World app; Slumberkins, a mix of animation and puppetry from the Jim Henson Company; Interrupting Chicken, based on the award-winning children’s book by David Ezra Stein; and Circuit Breakers, a kid-friendly sci fi show.

Variety has learned exclusively of the launch of “Vida the Vet,” which follows a preteen as she cares for a community of animals. The animated series will premiere in the fall of 2023 on BBC’s CBeebies and BBC iPlayer in the U.K., as well as Corus Entertainment’s Treehouse and StackTV in Canada. Other international broadcasting partners, including a distributor in the U.S., will be announced at a later date.

Exclusive: After the success of Paw Patrol: The Movie, which grossed $135 million at the global box office and spawned a sequel, Spin Master Corp. has promoted entertainment chief Jennifer Dodge.

As president of Spin Master Entertainment, Dodge will see her role expand to include sales and distribution of content and outbound licensing for consumer products.

Dodge has also named veteran Hollywood consumer products executive André Lake Mayer to the newly created post of SVP, Global Strategic Partnerships and Consumer Products. Mayer will lead global strategies and partnerships as well as building and stewarding Spin Master Entertainment’s global brands from owned IP through licensed consumer product.

During Dodge’s tenure, Spin Master has backed a number of series and features, transcending the toy aisle in the manner of Hasbro or Mattel. In addition to Paw Patrol, a mainstay on Nickelodeon, the company has Mighty Express on Netflix and an anime series based on Bakugan.

“Paw Patrol: The Movie” is getting a sequel.

Paramount Pictures will release the film in theaters on Oct. 13, 2023. Unlike the first movie, which debuted on Paramount Plus on the same day as its theatrical release as a concession to the pandemic, the upcoming animated adventure will play exclusively in theaters.
