Exclusive: Corbin Bernsen (Your Friends and Neighbors) has signed on to star in Laura Louise, an indie thriller directed by Duane Edwards.
Laura Louise follows Edward Brannock (Bernsen), a retired postal worker thrust into the center of a reopened missing person’s case. When new evidence surfaces decades after a teenage girl vanished, Brannock faces intense scrutiny, forcing him to confront long-buried family secrets he’s desperate to keep hidden.
Pic is based on an original screenplay by Frederick Mensch (HBO’s Nightingale), who previously collaborated with Edwards on the 2024 drama Wrong Numbers, starring Emily Hall and David Kelsey. Edwards will produce for The King Productions, alongside co-producers Phil Lee and Darryl Manuel. Aaron Schoonover cast the picture, which shoots in Chicago this fall.

Based on a short film of the same name, Silent Partner is written by actor and Black Man Films co-founder Roderick Lawrence, James J. Johnson, and Branco. The pic follows a Black attorney in New York who is thrust into a stand-your-ground case by a senior partner. He is asked to defend a white woman who has murdered a Black teen. The story focuses on the attorney’s moral struggle, his relationship with his wife, and the black professional experience of microaggressions in the workplace and systemic racism in the justice system. The film began production last week in New York City. Cast features Roderick Lawrence, Susan Heyward, Eric Nelsen, and Jeff Perry.

Exclusive: Emily Hall (Lumina) and David Kelsey (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) are set to star in Wrong Numbers, an indie drama marking the feature directorial debut of Duane Edwards, which will head into production in Chicago in early May.
The film’s events are set in motion by a disastrous blind date on the part of Emma (Hall) at an upscale Chicago restaurant. The beautiful twenty-something subsequently strikes up an essential conversation with Jack (Kelsey), a happily married, middle-aged and very successful businessman who is seated at another table, having just finished up a business dinner. Emma and Jack thereafter stumble into an intense one-night stand that turns into something more complicated and destructive than either of them could have expected.
