The most enjoyable additional extras on this disc, aside from Becoming Hitchcock, are interviews with Neil Brand about the scores. Even on The Ring, which is presented here with a score he didn't write, he proves an excellent guide to the mood of the film. Melodrama à la Manx: Stephen Horne on scoring Hitchcock is less detailed in terms of the film itself, but offers an insight into Horne's working on the score.

Davina Quinliven's conversation on Hitch's Leading Ladies - which can be found on The Manxman - is an excellent and accessible dive into the stars of the films on this set and their thematic connections to Hitchcock's later work. From Silent Film Idol to Superman: John Stuart by Jonathan Croall also gets down to specifics about John Stuart, whose long career would extend to Richard Donner's superhero film of 1978.

Depictions of Scotland on Screen are in focus with the opening film Peggy (1916), with live musical accompaniment from Stephen Horne. Woody Allen’s 1920s feature to close Sarajevo at the city’s Open Air Cinema.

The Sarajevo Film Festival (Aug 15-23) has revealed the line-up for its Open Air Cinema screenings, which will include Woody Allen’s Magic in the Moonlight as the closing film.

Sat in the 1920s on the French Riviera, the romantic comedy stars Colin Firth as a magician who attempts to expose a psychic medium, played by Emma Stone, as a fake.

Allen’s Oscar-winning Blue Jasmine screened at Sarajevo’s Open Air Cinema during last year’s festival.

As previously announced, Sarajevo will open with three films to mark its 20th edition.

The first will be Alejandro González Inárritu’s 2000 feature Amores Perros and actor Gael Garcia Bernal will be in attendance to introduce the Open Air Cinema screening and accept the festival’s Honorary Heart of Sarajevo.

Internet film rental service Lovefilm reports that the buzz around The Artist has sparked a boom in curiosity about early cinema, with a 40% rise in the number of people streaming silent films on its site in the week leading up to the Oscars.
