Yellowstone Season 2 Episode 7 Recap: The Becks' Escalation, The Attack On Beth & More
Image
The following article contains discussions of suicide and suicidal ideation.

Yellowstone season 2, episode 7, "Resurrection Day", reveals just how far the Beck brothers are willing to go to claim the Yellowstone Ranch and the gauntlet is thrown down in an explosively violent episode. Season 2 of Yellowstone sees a new major antagonist for John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his family to go up against in the form of the Beck brothers, two of the greatest villains to ever appear on a Taylor Sheridan show. All season, Malcolm (Neal McDonough) and Teal (Terry Serpico) Beck have been making increasingly sinister overtures to the Duttons.

They'd even made an effort to turn Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) to their side in the previous episode, "Blood the Boy". In that same episode, Jamie (Wes Bentley) got himself into trouble by speaking to a reporter, telling her the worst secrets of his family. When she threatens to expose them,...

‘Jury Duty’ trailer brings ‘The Office’ meets Borat ‘docu-comedy’ to Amazon Freevee
Image
The reality comedy series “Jury Duty” is an elaborate prank on one normal man, and you’ll want to be in on the joke.

On Tuesday, Amazon released a trailer for the series, which is coming to the free ad-supported service Freevee on April 7. It’s a “docu-comedy” following Ronald Gladden, a solar contractor from San Diego who thinks he’s taking part in a documentary about an American jury trial, from juror selection through verdict. In reality, it’s all fake, every other participant is an actor, and everything that happens is carefully scripted to make him feel like he’s taking crazy pills.

“Jury Duty” was created by “The Office” veterans Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” and “Who Is America?” producer Todd Schulman is an EP. Cody Heller (“Dummy”) is the showrunner, and Jake Szymanski (“The Package”) is the director.

“Jury Duty originated with a...

‘Jury Duty’ Comedy Unveils a Trailer Ahead of April Premiere
Image
The creative minds behind The Office set their new docu-style comedy in the courtroom. Amazon Freevee’s Jury Duty, which just released a trailer, focuses on 12 jurors…but only one doesn’t realize he’s not sitting on a real jury.

“Jury Duty originated with a question: Was it possible to make a sitcom like The Office about a trial, populate it with brilliant comedic performers, and put a real person at the center of the show who doesn’t realize he’s surrounded by actors?” said executive producer Todd Schulman (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm). “We honestly had no idea, but when we pitched it to Freevee we pretended like it was a sure thing. Thank God we pulled it off.”

The Office‘s Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky created the series and serve as executive producers. David Bernad (The White Lotus), Ruben Fleischer (Superstore), Nicholas Hatton (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Cody Heller...

Jury Duty (1995)
James Marsden and 10 Actors Push 1 Juror to Question Reality in Trailer for Docu-Style Comedy ‘Jury Duty’ (Video)
Jury Duty (1995)
“Jury Duty,” the upcoming docu-style comedy series starring James Marsden as himself, explores truths stranger than fiction when one unsuspecting juror is put in a courtroom of actors for a fake case and a faker documentary.

Marsden leads the “Truman Show”-style misadventure, playing a version of himself who tries – and fails – to get out of his civic duty when the judge fails to recognize him as a public figure. In the first trailer for the Amazon Freevee series, which dropped Tuesday, other characters are seen pushing the envelope of what’s acceptable behavior in the literal court of law – while real-life juror Ronald Gladden goes about his duty being none the wiser that everything is staged.

Coming from the producers of “The Office,” “The White Lotus” and “Bad Trip,” “Jury Duty” is just the latest comedy series to blend genres of reality and scripted, following in the steps of Sacha Baron Cohen,...

Aaron Sorkin Wrote Most Of A Few Good Men On Cocktail Napkins At His Bartending Job
Image
Do you want the truth about how Aaron Sorkin wrote "A Few Good Men," the hit play that became an Oscar-nominated box office smash starring Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson?

Well, we've got good news: You probably can handle the truth, because it's actually a very pleasant and amusing story.

Aaron Sorkin is one of the most celebrated screenwriters of his generation, having created the popular TV series "The West Wing," for which he won six Emmy Awards. He also the acclaimed motion pictures "The American President," "Moneyball," and "The Social Network," the latter of which won him an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

But he started his career just like so many others do in the entertainment industry: by working crap jobs. And while most of the time those crap jobs go nowhere, sometimes those crap jobs pay off.

Well, maybe not the one where he dressed up like a moose.

Image
(Updated with producers’ statement) Exclusive: Surviving members and relatives of the famed Black Spartans want a movie about the 1966 college football co-champions consigned to the sidelines.

“This letter is directed to various producers, directors, actors and others who we understand are associated with the motion picture Black Spartans, which purports to tell our clients’ stories,” says a correspondence sent Tuesday night to director-writer Ben Cory Jones, producer James Velissaris and his various aliases, as well as actors J. Alphonse Nicholson, Neal McDonough (who also is a producer) and others (read it here). “However, this film is being produced without our clients’ input or approval and in violation of their rights to publicity and privacy and in defamation of their characters.”

Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, and Rex Harrison in Cléopâtre (1963)
Did Elizabeth Taylor's Cleopatra Casting Almost Bankrupt Fox?
Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, and Rex Harrison in Cléopâtre (1963)
20th Century Fox couldn't have picked a worse time to mount its epic production of "Cleopatra." The studio was reeling after a string of box office disasters in 1958, which prompted its president, Spyros Skouras, to do the wholly unreasonable thing and pin the company's financial recovery on one historically massive production. On executive David Brown's advice, Skouras reached back 40 years into the studio's past, and threw everything into a new rendition of "Cleopatra." The sweeping tale of the ill-fated Queen of Egypt had delivered in a big way for...

Steven Spielberg Worried Jaws Would Sink His Young Career
Steven Spielberg at an event for The 79th Annual Academy Awards (2007)
If Steven Spielberg had his way in 1974, he would've left "Jaws" during preproduction and signed on to direct the prohibition-era comedy "Lucky Lady." If you're asking, "What the heck was 'Lucky Lady'," well, we'll get to that.

Let's skip back a year to 1973. Spielberg had just completed "The Sugarland Express" for producers Richard D. Zanuck and David Brown, and was hearing rumblings about one of the duo's latest acquisitions: a soon-to-be-published novel titled "Jaws" by Peter Benchley. Spielberg wanted the gig, but Zanuck and Brown had already assigned it to Dick Richards on the strength of his critically acclaimed directorial debut, "The Culpepper...
