Jennifer Lawrence Is Caught in a Spicy Love Triangle in First Die, My Love Image
Image
Its been a quiet year for Jennifer Lawrence who made headlines in 2023 thanks to her performance in No Hard Feelings, the raunchy comedy she starred in alongside Andrew Barth Feldman. Lawrence recently wrapped filming on arguably her most intriguing upcoming project, Die, My Love, which also stars Robert Pattinson and Lakeith Stanfield. Deadline has the first look at the upcoming film, showing a close-up still of Lawrence, the main character in the film who becomes entangled in a spicy love triangle where Pattinson plays her husband and Stanfield plays her lover. Nick Nolte and Sissy Spacek are also part of the Die, My Love cast, which is being billed as a horror thriller, with Sarah Lind, Victor Zinick Jr., Debs Howard, Marcus Della Rosa, Philip Forest Lewitski, and Saylor McPherson filling out the rest of the supporting ensemble. Martin Scorsese will also produce.

‘Broken Diamonds’ Review: A Clichéd Indie Dramedy
Image
There’s more plucking acoustic guitar in “Broken Diamonds” than can be heard in your average coffee shop — one of innumerable indie filmmaking clichés employed by “Broken Diamonds,” the story of a wannabe author, his schizophrenic sister and the crossroads they find themselves at when their father dies. Penned by Steve Waverly and directed by Peter Sattler (“Camp X-Ray”) with a dogged attention to cornball conventions, , whose overdone theater-kid turn further dooms the material’s stabs at humor and pathos. Consequently, the prognosis — for both its theatrical (July 23) and VOD (Aug. 23) releases — looks dire.

On the eve of a move to Paris to try his hand at writing a novel, Scott (Platt) has his life upended when his dad dies, leaving him in charge of caring for his volatile sister, Cindy (Lola Kirke), who hears voices, acts unstably and has been a lifelong center-of-attention burden on Scott. Cindy promptly gets...

Amanda Howells, Valter Skarsgård, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Mathias Retamal, Christopher Gerard, and Karolina Benefield in Funhouse (2019)
Eight Contestants are Lured to the Funhouse by Fame and Fortune
Amanda Howells, Valter Skarsgård, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Mathias Retamal, Christopher Gerard, and Karolina Benefield in Funhouse (2019)
Tagline: "How Many Likes for a Life?" Funhouse is a co-production between Sweden and Canada. Featuring cast and crew from both territories, Funhouse takes a reality show a little too far. Eight middling celebrities are invited to participate in the event. But, instead of cameras and fame, these housemates are forced to endure torture and confinement. Funhouse was developed by Canadian director Jason William Lee, of The Evil in Us (2016). His latest brings gorifying good times, with Swedish actor Valter Skarsgård, Debs Howard ("iZombie"), Kylee Bush (The Evil in Us) and Christopher Gerard. An update on the film's production and upcoming distribution are hosted here. The long synopsis, from Sandcastle Pictures, talks of a "Big Brother" styled show. The winner will walk away with 5 million dollars. This honey is the trap that lures the eight contestants to the show. When a contender is murdered, the other housemates realize their fate...

‘The Intruder’ DVD Review
Stars: Meagan Good, Dennis Quaid, Michael Ealy, Erica Cerra, Joseph Sikora, Alvina August, Debs Howard, Lili Sepe, Lee Shorten, Carolyn Anderson, Caroline Muthoni Muita, Kurt Evans | Written by David Loughery | Directed by Deon Taylor

The Intruder, directed by Deon Taylor, is the latest conventional haunted house thriller tale that has a big bark but no bite. Denis Quaid stars as Charlie Peck, who sells his property to Annie and Scott Russell, played by Meagan Good and Michael Ealy, and slowly becomes obsessed with the couple. Begins to blur the lines of a psychopath and friendly neighbour.

Taylor’s recent effort had firm hopes to impress with a haunting trailer that wonderfully captured the dread and terror that such a thriller film should provoke. It is a rather tragic set of events that proceed the Sony logo, however, as the next one hundred and fifteen-minutes result in in a dull and often disastrous stifled thriller,...

Artificial Intelligence Develops a Killer Maternal Instinct in New Trailer for Ami
As artificial intelligence continues to evolve at a rapid pace, there is a real fear that AI will be used for the wrong reasons, and Rusty Nixon preys upon those fears in Ami. From IndustryWorks Studios, we have the first official trailer for the movie, starring Debs Howard:

"Young Cassie comes across a discarded cell phone with the latest artificial intelligence on it called Ami. Cassie customizes the AI to sound like her deceased mother which soon fulfills the void in Cassie's life. As their relationship deepens, the nurturing and seemingly caring AI drives Cassie to perform heinous acts of murder that Ami convinces her are totally justifiable."

Siri-Like Phone Assistant Is Out for Blood in Slasher Movie ‘Ami’ Trailer (Exclusive Video)
Hey Ami, who should I kill today?

According to Hollywood, technology has been trying to kill us for decades now — whether it’s Hal 9000 or Skynet — but in a new slasher horror film called “Ami,” it’s your smart phone’s A.I. assistant, not unlike the Siri or Alexa currently sitting in your pocket, that does the dirty work.

TheWrap has the exclusive first look trailer for the film, which stars Debs Howard (“iZombie”) as Cassie, a high school student who customizes her new artificial intelligence assistant Ami to have a voice that sounds eerily like her deceased mother. As Cassie’s relationship deepens with Ami, her device starts convincing her to perform heinous acts of violence. Now how’s that for a software update?

The Evil in Us is Drug Fuelled: A Film Review
*full disclosure: Raven Banner Entertainment is an advertiser on this site. Tagline: "Worst. Trip. Ever." Director/writer: Jason William Lee. Cast: Debs Howard, Danny Zaporozan, Ian Collins and Behtash Fazlali. The Evil in Us is a drug fuelled thriller, from director Jason William Lee. Loosely based on the Bath Salts' incidents in 2012, the film envisions a world gone awry and chaotically altered by genetically enhanced cocaine. This title was released in Canada this past June, via Raven Banner Entertainment and in the United States, on July 4th - by Image Entertainment. The film follows a few cliches, in its writing structure. Never go camping in a horror film. Still, the material is fresh here, mostly thanks to Lee's competent use of the camera. There is always something happening onscreen. And, the visual sphere offers lots of different shooting techniques. Also, there is a positive moral message, in the film. Don't use drugs folks.

‘The Evil in Us’ DVD Review
Stars: Debs Howard, Tatyana Forrest, Lee Tomaschefski, Marina Pasqua, Jerome Velinsky, David Aboussafy | Written and Directed by Jason William Lee

Six school friends meet up for a drug-fuelled weekend on a remote island. What they do not know is the drug they scored is not what it seems; it is actually a new bioactive compound peddled by a sadistic right-wing terrorist organisation. Anyone consuming it is then exposed to a virus causing fits of psychotic rage, mind-bending chaos and cannibalistic murder.

Now that’s a synopsis I can get behind. If only the film matched up to it… Instead The Evil in Us gives us six annoying pricks doing stupid, annoying things – so much so that we, the audience, wish them dead, and the sooner the better.

Yes, this is one of those films where the ineptitude of the characters lets the entire concept of the movie down. Ideally we...
