Another week, another installment of VOD Vault – taking a look at some of this weeks on-demand releases that have hit various VOD platforms. This week we’re focusing on independent Us horror, in particular two new VOD titles which share a similar “odd” theme: Decay and Tabloid Vivant.

Decay

Decay focuses on a middle-aged grounds keeper at a local theme park (played by Rob Zabrecky) that suffers from a debilitating case of Ocd. One day, his daily routine is disrupted by a surprise visitor in his basement: a beautiful young woman who, through a jarring turn of events, ends up dead. Jonathan panics and chooses not to report the dead girl. Instead, he invites her to dinner. Jonathan is happy to have a friend, until the police start closing in,...

Day of the Dead post: Cinema's Top Five Scariest Living Dead We should all be eternally grateful to the pagans, who had the foresight to come up with many (most?) of the overworked Western world's religious holidays. Thanks to them, besides Easter, Christmas, New Year's, and possibly Mardi Gras (a holiday in some countries), we also have Halloween, All Saints' Day, and the Day of Dead. The latter two are public holidays in a number of countries with large Catholic populations. Since today marks the end of the annual Halloween / All Saints' Day / Day of the Dead celebrations, I'm posting my revised and expanded list of the movies' Top Five Scariest Living Dead. Of course, by that I don't mean the actors listed below were dead when the movies were made.

Cast: Alexander Aguila, Carson Aune, Adam Beesely, Hunter Cope, Ana Corbi, Isait De La Fuente, David Fernandez Jr., Maritza Graciela, Aaron Jaeger, Alfredo De Leon, Fabian Lopez, and Oscar Lopez. Barrio Tales is a co-production from brothers Jarret and Brent Tarnol. Barrio simply means neighbourhood in English. In the film, Barrio is a mysterious place in Mexico where most of the characters are from or going to. This horror title consists of four short stories titled: "Maria," "Uncle Tio's Taco Truck," and "El Munstruo." There is also a wraparound story that begins the film, interjects itself inbetween the other stories and finishes out the film. Many of the short stories involve social commentaries on Mexican workers, while the film is fairly humourous overall. Barrio Tales is another enjoyable horror film that focuses.
