In his early 70's Linne started to study the cello.

When Linne moved to Alaska in 1949, he was unofficially given the title "Tallest man in Alaska".

After the death of his father, Linne's mother went into business for herself as Northwest Sampling Service in Seattle, marketing brand names for food, she also became a commercial fisherman one summer in Alaska in 1958, gill netting in Snettisham. Eventually she earned her nursing degree at the age of 66.

Linne grew up in Carmel, California where his father was superintendent of school and created the Carmel Unified School District.
