Paramount+ announced on Thursday morning that its Bob Marley biopic Bob Marley: One Love, starring Kingsley Ben-Adir, will begin streaming on the platform in the U.S. and Canada beginning Friday, April 12, with information as to the film’s availability in additional markets to be announced at a later date. Pic will also be available to stream on MGM+.

Pic comes to the platform after a strong run in theaters, which saw it set a midweek Valentine’s Day record, as well as new opening-day records for a music biopic in the UK, France and other territories, and the all-time biggest opening in Jamaica. Celebrating the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love, peace and unity, the film tells Marley’s incredible story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music that changed the world.

Kingston, Jamaica rolled out the red carpet to welcome Bob Marley: One Love with a hometown Jamaica premiere, hosted by Fae Ellington at the Carib 5 Theatre in Kingson, Jamaica on January 23, 2023!

Bob Marley’s message of love, peace, and unity is being told in the new film, Bob Marley: One Love. Unfortunately, since his time, the world seems to have gotten more hectic and that message is surely needed to land with people nowadays. Paramount celebrates the man, the myth, the legend, and the biopic with its premiere being held in Kingston, Jamaica, where guests and fans were also treated to a concert of various musical acts. The event took place at the Carib 5 Theatre in Kingston on January 23 with Fae Ellington hosting the festivities.

Peaky Blinders actor Kingsley Ben-Adir dons dreadlocks and speaks in a Jamaican patois to play a reggae legend in the latest trailer for Bob Marley: One Love, which dropped Tuesday.

The biopic has Marley overcoming adversity, including a failed assassination attempt, to rise to musical fame with a message of love and unity in dangerous times. “There’s a war going on. How I can bring peace? I can’t even get peace for myself,” a fretting Marley says at one point in the trailer.

The movie, based on real events, recounts a failed attempt to murder Marley in his home in Kingston, Jamaica, which only drove the reggae legend to double down on his mission to unify a divided nation with revolutionary music.

Set for release Jan. 12, 2024, the Paramount Pictures feature centers on the life of Marley, from the early days of his career to his death in 1981. Reinaldo Marcus Green (King Richard) directs from a script by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers and Terence Winter.

“Reggae is a people music,” Ben-Adir says as Marley in the trailer. “People coming together.”

Later, someone asks the singer, “Bob, they tried to kill you and your wife, and now you’re choosing to return to Jamaica to play a peace concert? Don’t you fear for your life?” As Marley explains, “My life is not important to me. My life is for people.”
