Biographie

One of her children died at birth. She was devastated, and after 1943, her career started slowing down. By 1949, her last film was released.

Her husband was producer-director Ramniklal N. Shah. She secretly married him when she was 17. They had six children together and remained married until his death in 1973.

Her sister is actress Sarojini, whose ambition was to enter films, in spite of her father's opposition. However, he was facing financial difficulties due to his gambling habit, so he put both his daughters to work in films. Indurani was about 12 or 13 years old when she entered films.

When she saw actress Leela Chitnis smoking with a long holder. she was impressed and tried to copy her; but actor Sohrab Modi, who treated her like his daughter, told her that it did not suit her, so she gave it up.

Her sister is actress Sarojini, whose husband is producer-director Nanubhai Vakil. Sarojini and Nanubhai's daughter is actress Azra.
