Annie Shapero has been cast as Alysanne “Black Aly” Blackwood in Season 3 of HBO’s House of the Dragon, our sister site Deadline reports. In George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the character fights for Queen Rhaenyra’s #TeamBlack in the Dance of the Dragons. She later marries Lord Cregan Stark and is credited with helping the realm return to peace after such an extended period of war.

James Norton has officially stepped into the world of Westeros. The actor, known from shows like Happy Valley, was spotted on the set of House of the Dragon Season 3 for the first time.

He was seen filming an emotional scene alongside Matt Smith, who plays Daemon Targaryen. According to Splash News, Norton’s character, Lord Ormund Hightower, was seen surrendering his sword and kneeling before Daemon.

Dressed in full costume, Norton looked every inch the proud lord forced into submission.

Norton was confirmed to have joined the cast back in January 2025, when HBO announced he would play Lord Ormund Hightower.

A leaked video from the set of House of The Dragon Season 3 has given fans their first look at James Norton in action. The short clip shows Norton filming a scene with Matt Smith and a child actor, though the kid’s character hasn’t been revealed yet.

Filming for the third season actually started months ago, on March 21, 2025, at Leavesden Studios in Watford. The plan is to keep filming all the way through October. HBO has yet to release any official footage, but this leaked video is the first proper look at Norton in his new role.

In January 2025, HBO officially announced that James Norton joined the cast as Lord Ormund Hightower.

HBO is filming the third season of House of the Dragon as we speak, and while we'll catch up with lots of familiar faces, there will be some new characters in the mix too. That includes Luther Largent, the commander of the Gold Cloaks in King's Landing, played by Downton Abbey veteran Tom Cullen.

Cullen talked a bit with Country & Townhouse about his new role. "I’m a big fan of the whole world. It’s been utterly thrilling to be involved thus far!" he said. "Started filming a few months ago. It’s been great. Everyone is so kind. Not an ego in sight."

Lola Petticrew and Scoot McNairy have joined the untitled Liz Meriwether project loosely inspired by the 1987 movie Black Widow. They join the previously announced star Emmy Rossum, who will play an FBI Agent who uses the secrets from a female serial killer’s past to try and find her.

The 1987 movie Black Widow, written by Bass and directed by Bob Rafelson, follows two women: Catherine (Theresa Russell), who murders wealthy men whom she has married for their money, and Alexandra (Debra Winger), an agent with the Department of Justice who grows obsessed with bringing her to justice.

Meriwether executive produces alongside Rossum and Sara Moskowitz via Rossum’s Composition 8 banner, as well as Ron Bass, who wrote the 20th Century Fox-distributed 1987 film. 20th Television, where Meriwether has been based for a decade, and Searchlight TV are producing.

Milly Alcock had a rough couple of days when first stepping on the set of “House of the Dragon.”

During a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show,” Alcock, who plays young Rhaenyra Targaryen on the “Game of Thrones” spinoff, said that someone “very high up” told her she would be seeing an acting coach during her second day of filming.

“On my second day on ‘House of the Dragon,’ one of the, I’m not gonna say who, but someone very high up, pulled me aside and was like, ‘Um, we’re gonna get you an acting coach,’” Alcock recalled.

She went on to say that the incident did not help her anxiety as she stepped into play Rhaenyra, one of the most iconic characters in the “Thrones” universe.

“It just confirmed everything that I’ve kind of known to be true, [which] is that I’m not very good at my job,...

It's been far too long since the most recent season of House of the Dragon concluded on HBO, and the wait for new episodes rages on and on, but at least we're continuing to receive news about what's to come in season 3. As filming continues on the highly anticipated third season, we just learned about three new cast members who have been cast in some key roles.

Revenge alum Barry Sloane joins the cast as Ser Adrian Redfort, who is one of the members of Rhaenyra Targaryen's Queensguard. Sloane has also appeared in shows like Hollyoaks, Longmire, Shameless, Six, and he will also appear in the upcoming second and final of The Sandman on Netflix. But as a Revenge fan, I know him best as Emily Thorne's former flame Aiden Mathis.

Two-time Emmy Award winner Gillian Anderson is back with a new project, scoring one of the leading roles, unsurprisingly! Deadline reports that the Sex Education star has been cast in the Channel 4 drama adaptation of Louise Kennedys debut novel Trespasses. She will portray Gina, the mother of protagonist Cushla, who never ceases to exchange blows with her daughter. The "glorious wreck" Cushla, on the other hand, is being played by Lola Petticrew (Bloodlands) with her love interest Michael, played by Tom Cullen.

Channel 4 is doubling its drama budget and number of commissions as part of genre chief Ollie Madden’s strategy for the division, Screen’s sister site Broadcast can reveal.

Speaking to Broadcast, the recently-installed head of drama and director of Film4 said the increase is central to C4’s plan to become a streaming-first public service broadcaster, with drama a key driver of viewers to its digital platform.

Gillian Anderson is leading a Channel 4 drama adaptation of Louise Kennedy’s Women’s Prize for Fiction- shortlisted Trespasses.

The Scoop and Crown star will play Gina, the mother of protagonist Cushla, a ‘glorious wreck’ who is constantly sparring with her daughter.

Cushla is being played by Lola Petticrew (Bloodlands) and Tom Cullen is Michael, her love interest.

The novel is set in 1975 near Belfast, as Catholic schoolteacher Cushla meets the older Protestant married man, who often defends Ira suspects.

Trespasses is being produced by BAFTA award-winning and double Oscar-nominated Wildgaze Films and is being adapted for the screen in her first lead writing credit by Ailbhe Keogan. All3Media International is distributing. Filming starts in Belfast in the fall.

The Stephen King TV adaptations of the 90s have their legion of fans despite the varying qualities. The most famous mini-series of the bunch is the 1990 adaptation of It with Tim Curry in one of his many cultural defining roles as Pennywise. Many other adaptations include Storm of the Century and The Langoliers. One of the adaptations that has a cult following is the TV adaptation of The Stand from 1994. Blu-ray.com has recently reported that Paramount Home Media Distribution will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mick Garris’ The Stand with a Limited SteelBook edition of the film, which is set to be sold exclusively at Walmart on September 24.

Needless to say, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to sit down with her about her latest, the mystery thriller series Insomnia, which is available to watch now on Paramount+.
