The streamer renewed the series in June 2023, a month after its premiere. But Davidson said that he changed his mind because he feels “this part of my life is finished”.

But the episode is also crafted to make us care about Pete as a person. Tucked inside the raunchy bits are frequent pleas to sympathize with the guy and care enough about him to follow eight episodes’ worth of his adventures.

Pete Davidson is just as famous for his personal life as his acting career, so it’s only fitting that his first leading television role sees him playing himself. The upcoming Peacock comedy “Bupkis” stars Davidson as Davidson, parodying the surreal levels of fame he has achieved in recent years with the help of some A-list friends.

The show is similar to Davidson’s 2020 film “The King of Staten Island,” which was directed by Judd Apatow and saw the former “Saturday Night Live” cast member in a role heavily inspired by his own background. Unlike that film though, “Bupkis” sees Davidson explicitly play a fictionalized version of himself, juggling acting roles, antics in the celebrity world, tabloid rumors, and his relationships with his working class family from Staten Island.

The trailer features many nods to real life tabloid stories and rumors involving Davidson, including his sister complaining about speculation about the star’s penis size.

Pete Davidson may only be 29 years old, but the former Saturday Night Live star and perpetual tabloid obsession already has a comedy series based on his life.

Below is the first trailer for Bupkis, Peacock’s new half-hour series that’s described as a “a new comedy following Pete Davidson as he attempts to work through unique family dynamics and the complexities of fame to form meaningful relationships. The Curb Your Enthusiasm-esque comedy (which releases all eight episodes Thursday, May 4) “follows Pete Davidson as he attempts to work through unique family dynamics and the complexities of fame to form meaningful relationships,” reads the official description. “The raw, semi-autobiographical series stars Davidson, Edie Falco and Joe Pesci alongside a star studded supporting cast in a show that straddles reality and absurdity to best represent what it is to be Pete Davidson.

In its half-hour episodes, “Bupkis” shows Davidson’s life in a heightened, fictionalized manner. Combining grounded storytelling with unfiltered and absurd elements, the eight-episode show will depict Davidson’s unique worldview.

The trailer opens with quick clips of tabloid headlines about Davidson and with him saying, “I googled myself yesterday. People think I’m, like, a joke for some reason.”

But then fans immediately see Joe Pesci sitting across from Davidson in a diner, callously telling his on-screen grandson, “They think you’re a joke because you are a joke.”

Pete Davidson will return to host Saturday Night Live next month.

The 29-year-old comedian and actor will guest host on 6 May to promote his Peacock show Bupkis, produced by SNL creator Lorne Michaels.

Davidson was a regular on the late-night comedy sketch show until last year.

He joined SNL in 2014, making him â€.one of the youngest performers ever to be featured in the sketch comedy series’s five-decade history.

In 2022, the Big Time Adolescence star left SNL alongside fellow cast members Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney.

Last year, before the season’s finale aired, Davidson shared a goodbye message on SNL writer Dave Sirus’s Instagram alongside a clip of him celebrating his first-ever sketch on the show.

Pete Davidson is briefly stepping back from filming the semi-autobiographical Peacock series Bupkis after he allegedly suffered a “meltdown” in his trailer while shooting in New York City.

An anonymous source told The U.S. Sun that Davidson tossed several items around and he reportedly, “also threw coffee on the walls and folded a TV in half inside this trailer.”

The comedian is acting alongside Joe Pesci, who is playing his onscreen grandfather, for this sitcom series first greenlit by the NBC streamer back in April of this year.

Pete Davidson's semi-autobiographically series Bupkis has added a slew of television comedy's finest to the cast. Bupkis will feature Davidson as a version of himself, similar to the pseudo-real life approach popularized by Jerry Seinfeld on Seinfeld and Larry David on Curb Your Enthusiasm. The creative team behind the series is packed with Saturday Night Live alumni and staff, as SNL boss Lorne Michaels is executive producing and longtime SNL scribe Dave Sirus is co-writing the series with Davidson and Judah Miller.

The Bupkis series will feature Joe Pesci returning to the small screen for just the second time in his career, and the first time since 1985. Pesci was supposedly finished with acting, and only briefly came out of retirement for Martin Scorsese's The Irishman. Landing Pesci as Davidson's grandfather is a massive get for Bupkis, and the on-screen family is rounded out by The Sopranos star Edie Falco playing Davidson's mother.

The casting serves as a reunion for Romano in multiple directions. The actor, who recently made his feature directorial debut with his latest film “Somewhere in Queens,” also starred in Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman” alongside Pesci.

Garrett worked with Romano on the Emmy Award-winning comedy “Everybody Loves Raymond” until 2005. His other credits include “High Desert,” “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels,” and “Single Parents.
