Plaion Pictures have announced the release of the highly anticipated Restore Point. The Czech Sci-Fi Noir is available now on Digital Download including to rent/buy on Amazon Prime Video in the UK. Directed by Robert Hloz, Restore Point stars Andrea Mohylová, Matěj Hádek, Václav Neužil, Milan Ondrík and Karel Dobrý. Featuring stunning retro-futuristic design, this extremely stylish sci-fi thriller explores mankind’s fascination with mortality is reminiscent of Blade Runner and Minority Report.

Set in central Europe during 2041, a female detective investigates the case of a murdered couple where a restoration team is able to bring one of them back to life.

LA-based distribution company Myriad Pictures has picked up international rights to Zátopek, the Czech Republic’s 2021 Oscar Entry. The film has also sold in the US to Gravitas Ventures.

The deal was negotiated between John McGrath of UTA, on behalf of the producers, and Scott Bedno, Senior Vice President of Sales & Acquisitions at Myriad Pictures

Zátopek follows the story of four-time Olympic champion Emil Zátopek. It is the seventh film by prolific Czech director David Ondříček.

The film stars Václav Neužil (Dabing Street), Martha Issová (Dukla 61), and Australian James Frecheville. Zátopek dominated the 2022 Czech film awards with eight wins, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.

Myriad Pictures has acquired the international rights to “Zátopek,” Czech Republic’s 94th Academy Award Best International Feature Film submission. Gravitas Ventures has North American rights to the feature.

The deal was negotiated between John McGrath of UTA, on behalf of the producers, and Scott Bedno, senior vice president of sales and acquisitions at Myriad Pictures.

“Zátopek” is about the greatest Czech athlete of all time, four-time Olympic champion Emil Zátopek. It is the seventh film by prolific Czech director David Ondříček. His film “In the Shadow” was the Czech Oscar submission in 2012.

“Zátopek” stars Václav Neužil (“Dabing Street”), Martha Issová (“Dukla 61”), and Australian James Frecheville.

The film dominated the most prestigious Czech film awards, Czech Lions, with eight wins including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Cinematography and Best Editing. It was nominated for 13 Czech Lions.

The first trailer for World War II thriller Anthropoid has arrived online, starring Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan as two Czech operatives tasked with the assassination of an SS officer.

With the movie set to arrive later this summer, it’s a wonder why we’ve heard so little about it until now – especially with a trailer that’s this intriguing. Cashback director Sean Ellis sits at the helm of this espionage pic, whose title refers to a specific mission where two operatives set about hunting down one of Hitler’s highest-ranking officials, SS Reinhard Heydrich. While the cinematic canon includes a lot of World War II thrillers, and many that involve espionage, Anthropoid looks like it’s planning to pack quite a punch thanks to the performances of its strong acting line-up.

It was just this week with the arrival of the Denial trailer that we commented it wouldn’t be awards season without a Holocaust drama. While Anthropoid is centered moreso around taking down Nazis and it arrives just before the standard award season, we’ll count it. Anthropoid is based on the extraordinary true story of Operation Anthropoid, the World War II mission to assassinate SS General Reinhard Heydrich. The Reich’s third in command after Hitler and Himmler, Heydrich was the main architect behind the Final Solution and the leader of occupying Nazi forces in Czechoslovakia whose reign of terror prompted Allied soldiers (Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan) to hatch a top-secret mission that would change the face of Europe forever.
