‘The Girl on the Mountain’ Review

Jack Ward, the protagonist of The Girl on the Mountain is a man hunted by guilt. A conductor and composer, he was so devoted to his art that everything else, including his family, came second. As a result, he blames himself for the tragedies that befell them.

He’s come to the mountains, possibly to kill himself, but in the film’s opening minutes he fails to find the courage to pull the trigger. Which is a good thing because while washing up in a river he sees a ragged young girl, Aria (Makenzie Sconce; Firefall: An Epic Family Adventure) stealing his backpack. Catching up with her after she conveniently trips, he discovers she’s mute and communicates with sign language. Which, equally conveniently, Jack also knows.

Ahead of its release this week, we've got an exclusive clip from "The Girl On The Mountain," a new wilderness-set thriller from filmmaker Matt Sconce.

The clip, which you can watch below, seems to come from a climactic moment in the upcoming film, which is set for digital release March 8. "The Girl On The Mountain" follows a reclusive mountain man (Daniel O'Reilly) as he helps a mysterious, non-verbal girl (Makenzie Sconce) find safe haven after fleeing a dangerous situation. The unlikely pair must work together when the girl's father comes looking for her, bent on revenge.

Saban Films has revealed an official trailer for The Girl on the Mountain, a survival thriller from filmmaker Matt Sconce shot in the Sierra Nevadas. The film is opening in select theaters and on VOD starting this March for anyone interested. When a reclusive backwoodsman finds a mute little girl named Aria wandering alone in the forest, he must protect her from the forces determined to end her life. Altar is the terrifying story of a group of college classmates who get lost driving to a reunion campout in the Sierra Nevada mountains. After stopping for the night, they stumble onto something darker and must escape the evil they’ve unleashed. Not only are their lives in danger, but their immortal souls as well.

Altar is expected to premiere later in 2016.

Stricken and Overcoming Pain: A Movie Review

Stricken is a film from director Matthew Sconce and Aftershock Studios. The film has recently been completed and Stricken has toured several film festivals, including the Action on Film International Film Festival. This feature won the Best Horror Film for 2010 at this event and currently the film is seeking distribution in numerous territories. Starring David Fine (Sensored) and Stephanie French, Stricken uses dark lighting, a foreboding atmosphere and Celtic mythology to tell a tale horror tale of curses and slaughter. Also, Stricken is important for showing that unfortunate events which effect the father or mother do not need to impact the offspring.

Indie Horror Alert: Stricken Moving to a Film Festival Near You
Stricken Concept PosterThe independent thriller Stricken had an appearance at the Action on Film International Film Festival in late July of this year and Stricken won Best Visual Effects at this event along with Best Horror Film. Post-production on the film was completed in June, so expect to see this film at festivals throughout 2010.
