Dr. Marcus Andrews hasn’t just forfeit his job as president of St. Bonaventure Hospital on ABC’s The Good Doctor. He’s left San Jose behind entirely.

As TVLine was first to report, original cast member (and U.S. Senate hopeful) Hill Harper exited the medical drama ahead of its seventh and final season. Hill Harper’s exit from The Good Doctor was addressed in the Season 7 premiere of the ABC medical drama.

Harper has been a main cast member since the show’s debut in 2017, playing the role of Dr. Marcus Andrews. The Season 6 finale of the series set up Harper’s departure after Dr. Andrews resigned as president.

In a scene from the first episode of the final season, Dr. Andrews’ whereabouts were noted in a moment between Elfina Luk’s Nurse Dalisay Villanueva and Christina Chang’s Dr. Audrey Lim.

“Marcus sends greetings from Spain,” Villanueva tells Dr. Lim.

“Oh! I thought he was at a meditation retreat in Vietnam,” Dr. Lim adds.

Villanueva responds, “He was and now he’s walking the Camino de Santiago.”

Harper announced last year he was making a run for a U.S. Senate seat in the state of Michigan.

Hill Harper, who plays Dr. Marcus Andrews in The Good Doctor, will be leaving the show to focus on his campaign for the United States Senate. Harper believes there is a crisis in American democracy and wants to give working people more of a voice in Congress. Evangeline and Bring It On: Cheer or Die director Karen Lam drew inspiration from Japanese films in general and an experimental silent film called Pages of Madness in particular when crafting her horror movie The Curse of Willow Song – and it seems to have turned out pretty well, as Fangoria reminds us that The Curse of Willow Song won the Best British Columbia Film award when it premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival way back in 2020. Now the film is finally making its way to DVD and digital, thanks to Uncork’d Entertainment, and a trailer can be seen in the embed above.

ABC has dropped the first plot details for The Good Doctor Season 4, and it sounds like an emotional season for all of the characters.

The season premiere is a two-parter according to the network, and it finds the characters facing the global pandemic called Covid-19.

"Dr. Shaun Murphy treats a patient with an illness that is not only unpredictable in nature, but also unlike anything he or the team at San Jose St. Bonaventure has ever seen before, reads the logline for the November 2 premiere.

"As safety protocols and quarantines increase due to the global pandemic, Lea and Shaun’s new relationship will become tested," the synopsis continues.
