Claire’s Knee: Dori Oskowitz Adds Hope Davis to “Claire”
Music video director Dori Oskowitz is adding more “family” members to the American remake of Eric Rohmer’s Le Beau Mariage. Joining the already cast Jenna Malone and Alex Karpovsky in what looks to be a triage/third wheel type of dramedy, THR reports that Hope Davis has been added to the cast in a supporting role. Claire is the Oskowitz’s directorial debut.

Gist: Written by Juan Iglesias and Jonathan Saba, this centers on an eccentric twentysomething woman living in Long Island with her aunt and teenage cousin. Fed up with her married lover, a painter named Simon, Claire (Malone) decides to get married herself, deciding upon a man she barely knows (Karpovsky), her best friend Katherine’s cousin (Davis). An absurd and humiliating quest to find love and a husband, but not necessarily in that order, follows.

Worth Noting: Saba is Vice President of Marketing for Saban Films.

Alex Karpovsky Joins Jena Malone In Remake Of Eric Rohmer's 'Le Beau Mariage'
Beloved French filmmaker Eric Rohmer's work has already seen an interesting interpretation in Hollywood — Chris Rock remade "Love In The Afternoon" with "I Think I Love My Wife." Now a decidedly more indie production is borrowing the pages of Rohmer, and, featuring two pretty great actors, it has our attention. Read More: Jena Malone To Star In 'Le Beau Mariage' Redo Alex Karpovsky joins the previously cast Jena Malone in "Claire," a redo of the 1982 film "Le Beau Mariage." The story follows a young woman who decides to dump her married lover and get married herself, to her best friend's cousin. Zany! Of course, Rohmer himself had a deft and original hand at these kinds of scenarios, so it'll be interesting to see how the screenwriters Juan Iglesias and Jonathan Saba tackle the material. Meanwhile, behind the camera will be music video director Dori Oskowitz, who will make his feature debut.

The Longest Week | Review
Arrested Development: Glanz’s Debut an Affluent Vacuum

For the most part, it’s an ingenious trick to fabricate an aura of empathy around a pool of pretentious piranhas endlessly floundering about in the upper echelons of privilege and oblivion. To extend an invitation to witness purported romance amongst elitists garnished with nothing more than an immeasurable trust fund and the preened hue of an Ivy League education would seem nearly impossible to enjoy, and, thus, Peter Glanz’s directorial debut, The Longest Weekend is a generous case in point.

Despite a nicely chosen cast and a handful of flourishes borrowed from the works of cinematic masters, there’s little carbonation to this stale elixir that too often depends on cliché. Overreaching and stifled by its own unnegotiable parameters, this is a highly artificial portrait of all that it attempts to convey.

Now entering his fourth decade of life,...
