Boom! Studios 'Day Men' Vampire Comic Adaptation Gets a Writer
More than one year after picking up the rights to Boom! Studios' comic book Day Men, Universal Pictures has hired screenwriter Will Simmons to write the adapted screenplay.

Created by Matt Gagnon and Brian Alan Nelson, with illustrations by Brian Stelfreeze, Day Men centers on a group of humans who look after vampires while they sleep during the day, and handle all of their affairs. The vampires in this world are split into mafia-like families, who all vie for control of certain territories. The plot follows one Day Man who becomes a key player when a war breaks out between two families.

Boom! Studios founder/CEO Ross Richie is producing alongside Stephen Christy, the company's president of development. The project will be Universal's second Boom! Studios adaptation, following last year's action-thriller 2 Guns.

Will Simmons wrote Murder City, which landed on The Black List in 2012. That project is currently in development,...

Insurrection V3.6 #1

Written by Blake Masters, Michael Alan Nelson

Art by Michael Penick

Covers by Karl Richardson, Rael Lyra

Boom! Studios

Release Date: September 7, 2011

Cover Price: $3.99

When it comes to comic books I love all kinds, especially science fiction books. I recently sat down and read Insurrection V3.6 #1 from Boom Studios.

Insurrection V3.6 takes place in the year 3000 and sets the backdrop that our planet has become a utopian society where crime and war is a thing of the past and peace and philosophy reign. Corporations have risen up and have taken their mining operations to other planets to ship the materials back to our planet. But on one world what would be regular mining becomes difficult because of constant conflict. One company called Glomrat uses A.I. units as security for day to day operations and to defend facilities [...]...

Synopsis:

Alan Nelson has the perfect ego-boosting job, the perfect dope-smoking wife and the perfect rebellious, gothic teenage daughter. 28 Days Later #1 (Comic Review)
Sequels generally frighten me. Most of the time it’s because they always lack something the first one had. Some sort of magic or chemistry, or maybe it was a naked cheerleader. The second is usually unwarranted, and like running into a bum after a baseball game, you generally hate dealing with it. And then there’s the few that breakthrough and not only enhance the first film, but also fill in the gaps left wide open. The story continues and there’s no bitchin and complaining about it. You’re just happy to see more.

28 Days Later – Issue # 1

Boom Studios | Written by Michael Alan Nelson | Art by Declan Shalvey and Nick Filardi

That’s certainly the case for Boom Studios continuation of the film 28 Days Later in comic book format. Especially with a film sequel already existing on video store shelves (28 Weeks Later), the task at hand to continue...
