Anecdotes

He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) before being awarded Knight Bachelor of the Order of the British Empire in the 2015 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to music. He is a composer and conductor in Glasgow, Scotland.

In 2015 he was knighted in the Queen's Birthday honors.

He studied music at Edinburgh University and took doctoral studies in composition at Durham University. After working as a lecturer at Manchester University, he returned to Scotland and settled in Glasgow.
